Add maps?? help

Can't seem to find how to add maps (Not sure if that's the right term).

Do you mean downloading a route ... or laying a satelilite image on a baseboard ?

I used to use Basemaps, but now I measure the straight-a-ways, and lay them by eye, and connect them with curves.

Basemaps and DEM's seem to make a chore out of the simple task of laying track. After all, it's just lines on a map.
