about TRAINZ 2006 cmp 100 meg limit

I have a way around that problem. I just use TRAINZ DOWNLOADER PRO. I find the program I need and then use the program, I have downloaded programs that go way beyound the 100 mg limit. I save them to a file and when done I use the program CONTENT MANAGER PRO from TRAINZ 2006 to install the items. Run install and then go back to the CONTENT MANAGER and look for missing items, About 99% of the times it works. If for some reason the item is not found just log into the config edit and remove the item. The program should run ok then.:)

So it takes a little time to download all the items but I let it run during the night and by the next day all the items are there. Also when one is on a fixed income every dollar counts.

So you not only resort to theft (make no mistake, that's what it is) but also encourage others to do the same

You should be setting a good example to the young'uns, no wonder they are confused.

Cheers David

While I wholly agree with the general concerns of this discussion, I hope that it isn't giving the impression that Trainz Downloader Pro itself is some sort of malware--I have a legitimate first class ticket but use TDP exclusively for my downloading (via a dial-up connection), as it bypasses the infamous CMP and its lockups and allows me to download my Trainz content on a different PC than my actual Trainz box. I find it bothersome that the Trainz programmers (along with many others) seem to assume that we all want internet connections going all the time and that it's okay to write software that expects that.

Call me a control freak if you want, but I prefer my PC to connect to the internet when I tell it to and only then. My favorite incident was when ZoneAlarm informed me that a program wanted to access the internet, and it proved to be--the Microsoft mouse driver! (Mousie want to phone home?)

Mr Switch master great to see you are adding to the descussion rather than just asking questions....
Hope your new system is going along great....
And that you are taking pleasure inh it and Trainz...
As for your solution I't's kind of complicated and from your posts only mostly works...
However...
Anyway of not useing CMP on anything but high end PC's has got to be good
Did you know without a ticked you download at 3 k with a ticket you download at 100 k or their abouts,,,,
How can you put up with that you may as well go back to dial up, sorry to those that are
Further if you leave your PC on all nigh downloading that costs you probably $3 a night added to you power bill
So I really think you should buy a ticket... It will actually save you money... I know your yanks as a whole are not very eco friendly but it would help the enviroment too.
As to your solution, just foll your stupid michine into thinking today is tommrow.
Think about it
And try protecting the enviroment today, tommrows children will say thanks :p (or stuff it themselfs:'( ) :_)

100 mg download

ref: POMMIE: As to stealing the program. If you cared to check before calling some on a thief, It is a legal copy gotten from TAFWEB'S web site. I used it for the TRAINZ 2004 and UTC so I have had this program a long time. I got tired of the constant crashes with the CMD protocol and the download content manager. Besides I never in my life gave my credit card number out over the internet. Too much ID theft out there.

Ref winjmoore So it is only 3k vs 100k who cares. I do not have dialup so it never ties up my phone. I have DSL and yes many web sites I go to for updates and downloade still only send data at a slow speed. As fo electric usage. I have not noticed any increase in my electric bill if I leave the computer on all night or not. As I live in Florida we run air conditioning 24-7 in the summer months and use it for heat in the cool months. Besides I had an energy audit last year and what uses about 35% of my electric after ac, running an inground pool filter for 8-10 hrs a day.

Actually you are more likely to have your credit card number stolen by someone that processes a sale for you than you are to have it stolen by a machine that proccess a sale for you. Machines don't need money they just need power $3 per night :-)

REf nhwitney: Why buy something when you can get it for nothing. Besides have you never downloaded a free game or program, played it, liked it, and then kept it. Even though it was free to use but they asked for a donation? Did you remove it from your computer or keep it when you were done? Most freeware programs out on the net are just that free.

YES: I agree that you are more likely to have your credit card number stolen by someone. THe credit card that I use will instantly notify me if someone is trying to purchas items above a set amount as this is how we set up the account an I pay a premium for this service each month. They will call for verification if the price is over $50 so I have no worry. Besides when they call I must give them a password that only myself or wife knows.

For starters my nick is pommie not POMMIE.
Where did I say you stole the program you were using ?????
I called you a thief because you are one, (Title of thread" about TRAINZ 2006 cmp 100 meg limit" I have a way around that problem) (I have downloaded programs that go way beyound the 100 mg limit), downloading more than the 100meg per day limit without the purchase of a FCT, is theft, so do not take what I said out of context and attack me with total BS.
If you want to download more than the 100meg per day you either pay for it or steal it, and you have admitted to doing the latter, not only that but boasting about it and encouraging others to do the same.
I find it ironic that an admitted thief is worried about ID theft.

Cheers David (who DID check his facts)

Clearly there are some rather murky moral values being unveiled in this thread...almost contradictory. I wonder how anyone that is cautious of being robbed themselves so readily steals from another, and how that gets resolved?

Oh wait....I know...he's human!

While I do admit that Trainz Downloader Pro is a great program, there is a reason for the 100Mb limit. It costs Auran money to host space on a server for the DLS, and it costs them money to send data out over the internet, just like it costs you money to access the internet. That's the driving force behind the FCT. Sure it's extra money on top of what you paid to get Trainz, but the bit of money you spend on the FCT is well worth it.

Oh, and while pommie was a bit rash with his comment about stealing, it is essentially correct. You are taking more than you are realistically entitled to, for free.

Chris

FYI Trainz 2004 which I have a full Version on another computer does allow an unlimited amt of mb to be downloaded. I sort content by 2004/06 and load what is needed for each program. Also the download cart that comes with TRAINZ 2004 has an unlimited download mg. Since when is using a program that is free to use for all time theft?

Some people are too conservative to leave the computer on all night, when mom takes the kids to soccer, when dad leaves for the park and ride, and when the kids are doing homework... lol. Isnt that kinda like "Pirating? or committing some sort of illegal activities?".... Yes, I am 14, and I know its totally wrong to do that sorta stuff. I wish even adults could just live a normal life, although 75% do. Sorry if it sounded a bit disrespectful .

FYI again: I have registered copies of the Origional TRAINZ, TRAINZ UTC, TRAINZ 2004 and 2006. If one uses TRAINZ 2004 there is no set amount of download one can use per day. You can download 10K to whatever. If you use the DOWNLOAD CART that comes with TRAINZ 2004 I have never encountered a limit to the amount of kb's one can download per day. Let me ask a question of everyone? Ever take a pencil or pen from the office with out paying for it? Did you ever record a movie that was on pay per view and kept it? That is stealing also, so before you call the kettle black look at yourselves. I do not steal anything. I just found a work around that works. I quess I will have to install my HD that contains the Trainz 2004 program and use the download programs that are attached to it for my downloads. As far as I know that is still legal or did AURAN all of a sudden put a download limit on it? I will continue to use any program that is a legal copy. If taffweb didn't get disgusted with the limits of the origional program, I don't think he would have written that program. End of discussion on this topic.

SWITCHMASTER.

Very intresting saying that downloading more then 100MBs a day from the DLS is illegal.
Lets say you download all your 100MBs worth via CMP. You can STILL DOWNLOAD via the ftp server,so therefore obviously it is not illegal otherwise that would also count towards your 100MB limit. And the fact that 04 doesn't have a limit on what you can download just fuels the fire that it is supposidly "illegal"
