Old school habits

Why would you need 3DSMax?

Cheerio,
John

I believe that the level of detail and complexity of construction requirements for TR09 will require 3dmax. I am unwilling to invest the time and money required by the new standards. We have been told that most previous content, while being compatible with and usable in TR09, will look substandard due to the new normal mapping and allowable poly counts. This is a pity... all that content... nearly 100,000 pieces... all substandard. I will continue to produce for TRS04 with pleasure but the future belongs to those with more skill and economic wherewithal than I, and my old school habits.

Thanks & keep up the good work Dave
Besides who needs shinny new trees the woods better once it's aged.

As for 2009 I think their getting a few people off side already with their new high standards.

Thanks for all of your great work Dave. I will be sticking with TRS2004 too, so I will keep on enjoying your amazing work. Your content is simply some of the best scenery for Trainz. Thank you for all of your content!

In my opinion, in light of all the contributions you made, Auran should give you a free copy of 3dmax. Of course, there is a power in "doing something nice for somebody and not telling anybody about it". I try to do that myself.:p

I also try not to get caught at what ever I'm doing. Probably a different reason.
I was hoping you'd update the Sakura for the new Trainz, but if you're staying in the TRS04 realm, there will still be a lot of people waiting for your next release.

I guess Dave and I and a few others will be hanging around that old house we called "the Gmax Domain", which is overshadowed by the new 3dmax tower across the street! :hehe:

Recruit an advanced builder!

Hi Claude. Keep the Sakura in mind so that when TR09 is released you can recruit an advanced builder that can use my image maps to create new versions of the Sakura for you. That would be cool!:D

Cheers, Dave

Sorry Dave, seem to have missed this thread as others have done also.......Well done on your achievement, and huge thanks for the assets that you create for us directly, and those that others use in their direct downloadable layouts as well, the TPR Sandpatch Winter route springs immediately to mind, so keep going Sir, even if Auran don't want your "substandard" assets, we do, and always will do......

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.
