A show of appreciation to Tony and all the N3V staff

I think Tony and his team deserve some appreciation ... is that is brown nosing ?
Sort of is, considering you guys seem to care about work, not quality.
Yes, you guys have every right to an opinion, but everyone else does too.

Note the bold and underline, so please correct me in a kind, respectful, non-agressive, and calm manner.

Can you explain more on that one falcon500? Most, if not all, of us here know they are a business but as Cascade has said at the start of this thread, they don't seem to get much appreciation for the things they do.

@TrainTech1350 - in most cases work and quality normally go together.

So you didn't read the post #1 ... If you don't appreciate what N3V has created, and what N3V is continuing to do for us ... Please exit this thread ... Do Not Bash this thread ... If you want to bash N3V, please take it to another thread

So you didn't read the last sentence on my post, especially the bold parts. Shane at least gave me sort of a neutral reply.

I didn't speak out against anything, I only said things about quality and work and what you guys were thinking of it.

I'm not going to flame or bash, but if you continue to "cry" I will have to defend myself.

I know what you mean there. I'm keen on quality as well which looking at the results in the Trainz Dev forum it seems to be going that way although we probably won't know until the upcoming patches are released as to how it's going to turn out.

@TrainTech 1350 "considering you guys seem to care about work, not quality." What you do not realise is that the quality is there if you are prepared to work to find it. Work will not kill you and the level of quality is achieved by dedicated work. As Shane said, they go together.

@Falcon 500 - "
You'd imagine though it was some kind of charity op shop." - An odd perception but I did notice that you have been back to the charity shop 5 times (UTC to 2012) so the quality cannot be so bad ...can it?

Most of us in this thread have actually been critical at some stage, this is not what the thread is about, I don't see anyone saying how wonderful T:ANE is.
Many forum users are getting thoroughly sick of the nasty and unpleasant comments aimed at N3V by people who have zero game coding experience and have no comprehension of the mammoth task that was undertaken with T:ANE.
I do have some limited coding experience in a gaming environment and can appreciate the mountain the N3V guys have been climbing, still yet to get to the summit, so wouldn't a bit of encouragement achieve more than persistent moaning and accusations?

I completely agree there Malc. I'm not sure what anyone will achieve by outright bashing N3V apart from possibly self satisfaction.

One saying I do remember - quality is in the eye of the beholder...

Shouldn't that be "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"?

For example; I thought my first wife was beautiful but she turned out to be of low quality. Beauty and quality don't go hand in hand as far as I'm concerned!

I appreciate everything that the Trainz crew have done and continue to do despite the verbal abuse they get in their forums. I know I would consider another line of work if everyday at the office anonymous people kept calling with such meanness and then disparage my work too.

I didn't think much of ts10 when it came out but I was proved wrong because the crew worked so hard on improvements. The community version of TANE didn't impress me either but TANE is looking much better now. I I think the hard work of the crew and the tester is going to payoff in a big way. So I thank you to Tony and all his team.

I agree, Malc. They have an unsurmountable mountain of work in front of them, which was somewhat underestimated at the beginning. They are trying their best and as always I give people credit where credit is due. At the moment I feel they are trying their best to come up with the best product they can. I just feel they went about this a bit backwards and should have done this sooner. Why they did it this way is what we will never know. We can always be critical because we're on the outside looking in, besides, it's easy too for us because we're not in the midst of their every day operation.

I have had my reservations still with T:ANE. I have said so before. I've neither said lots of bad things nor have I touted that this is the best product ever. I even said it needs work in the thread when asked for us to rate the program and more recently in another on a similar subject. Given them time and our support for their hard work and I'm sure we'll see some good results. This is why I report problems rather than getting nasty about them in the forums unlike some people we know. There's no use complaining about things that have already been reported because eventually the screaming goes unheard anyway, besides screaming about them in the forums doesn't get the errors reported in the proper way.

Malc and John... I agree. Who knows what we expected T:ANE to be, probably a glorified patch/upgrade of TS12. One thing we all understood was that Trainz could not progress the way it was with 32bit and limited RAM and JET just was just not making it any more. They grabbed the nettle (maybe third rail) and decided to rip up the book and start again. I agree with you John that perhaps they went about it the wrong way. Possibly the right way without realising the mammoth task they were taking on. Who knows but it is a done deal now and we make the best of it. What I have seen so far has not impressed me overmuch but I can see the potential. If we can continue to quietly post bug reports and add suggestions then it will all come together. Ranting and having tantrums takes us nowhere and we just need to leave the team alone to concentrate on making a better product.

Confession.

I haven't used Trainz very much since I went over to Mac version. Mac 1 was an inferior product to TS10, Mac 2 was only released about a year before MacTANE was supposed to be with us and having used MacTANE the FPS at the moment exclude any serious use.

I will be delighted to thank N3V for MacTANE when it is delivered in a useable state for me. I don't doubt they are working hard, but there has been too much hype, too much over running of deadlines and too little co-ordinated communication to merit much thanks at the moment. To quote my school reports 'Could do better'.

One thing that I have learned about social media is that it can become a megaphone for those who have an axe to grind. For many, simply reporting problems in the appropriate "bug" thread is not good enough - they want to vent their spleens and draw blood. This is not to say that their complaints are not genuine or legitimate, but they post in anger first and think about it later, if they ever do. A few posts in these forums typed in a large red bold font come to mind. T:ANE, TS12, TRS2010, .... , etc are not life and death issues for me, but they clearly are for some.

Those who tend to stay silent either have no complaints or, in the case of T:ANE, know that what they have is a "work in progress" and are prepared to wait for "further developments".

We tend to focus far too much on the noisy megaphones.

I just wanted to give a show of appreciation to Tony, and all the N3V, (and past Auran) staff.

I don't know where I would be without Trainz.

And I wish N3V a long Company lifetime, and hope that T:ANE is a product that lasts for many more decades.

All the N3V bashing and complaints, must dishearten the N3V staff, so I just wanted to show my appreciation to N3V.

I wholeheartedly agree with Cascade's statement. Tony and his N3V Team have given their all, so that we can have a better Trainz product than we had before. Getting T:ANE to a 100% level will take time, but every day (despite a few negative comments) I see positive feedback on the forum, great quality screenshots by dozens of creators and that means, ... that the product is working. I do appreciate what has been accomplished.
Well done guys, you've got my vote.
