Shane is it necessary to have Microsoft.NET 2 to run 2012? Ive had a major HD faileur and once again have to reinstall 2012. Will leave 2010 for the time being.
I have .NET Framework 4 but when I try to get Framwwork 2 a search leads me to the Microsoft site www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=19 but I get the message We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found.
An alternative microsft site http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1639 has the following file on it.
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
Is this jsut a sevice pack do you know or is it a combination of Net framework 2 plus the service pack 2? Its not clear to me. If this is the file to download , then which of of the following two do I Use?
NetFx20SP2_ia64.exe

52.2 MB

NetFx20SP2_x64.exe

46.3 MB

Im using Win 7 x64 Mb
Your expertise would be appreciated. Cheers

It's only necessary to have .NET Framework 2 installed if you intend to use Content Creator Plus.

Regarding the SP2, that is a service pack for that version - the main redistributable can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6523.

You will need the x64 version unless you know that your system has an Itanium processor, which is uncommon.

Shane

P.S. If you've had to reinstall Windows at all, you will need the latest DirectX files as well.

EDIT: Once you've got the main redistributable installed, you can also use Windows Update in Custom mode to get the service pack(s) and related updates.

Win7 has net framework 2 built in, from MS

For Windows 7, .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1 is shipped with it as one of OS component.
For .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1, it includes .NET 2.0 with SP2 and .NET 3.0 with SP2 as prerequisite.
This means, you have the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 plus a few post 3.5 SP1 bug fixes on Windows 7. They are OS components. .NET 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 can be added or removed via the Programs and Features control panel.

Might have to make sure that 3.5 is enabled in programs and features which in turn enables the rest, might not be on a pre installed OEM system. Not needed to do anything with the three installs of Win7 I have here and CCP works fine. (2 HP and 1 Pro)

Thanks Clam1952, although how do I make sure it is turned on?

Shane: Yes Win 7 needed to be reinstalled. From you post, it appears I need ti reinstall Dirct X 9 again. Is it on your site? or do you have a link to it?
