A Perfect Summer (Large Pics)

Great stuff, but may I point out, (constructive criticism only;) ), the roof of the building in picture 3 doesn't seem to be textured properly.

This route is probably gone like a fart in the wind anyway. I have no idea how old the backup is. It might be ancient. So near 2 years of work gone cause trs cant stay stable. O well...

Well at least ya still some what around Adam....Good to hear from ya....It would be cool to see what the one you do have left on there and how old it is....Maybe this way it will be PC FPS friendly :hehe:

Adam,

Based on how great your work is/was, I can't imagine you not doing something with some type of simulator train game. Have you moved onto another train game? That route would have been a great WSOR/GBW/WC/ELS route.

Yeah that is for sure....To bad it had to poop out on him :hehe:

No I'm done with building routes for a while. I'm still making stuff in 3ds though. I have a couple things in the works if you head over to www.rrmods.com/forum you'll see some stuff going on. I did find an old backup of this route which has the main yard finished and some mainline. I'll just start over from that whenever I get back in the mood.

I figure I shall get this topic back on the mainline here and get er rolling here again....Now with a new twist of things :).....ENJOY!!!!!!!!

Well seeing that I have not posted some pix in a while....I figure I would post some 2night of a CP coal train I chased
Our trip begins where we find a CP train burried in the thick vegatition out in no mans land

With the loads in tow...The train pulls up to a crossing to start setting up its air and starts to talk to the dispatcher to get clearance out onto the main

With everything all set and ready to go....The train notches it up and starts the climb up out of the woods

With the train only doing a fast ground speed of 15mph...This train will take a long time till she hits the main line and really kicks er down...When this train went past me...Boy you could sure hear the rails stretch

Slowing up now the train is about to hop onto the main line and really make up some time

Now with the train doing some good speeds out on the main...We catch it here passing over this beautiful long span bridge behind the Quad Graphics plant....Boy talk about a BIG plant

Now we catch it here passing a road crossing and another fly by shot

Here we catch the train stomping over the E&LS diamond

As we got to the next town...The train has already beat us to the depot where a CP crew will come on board and take this train further down the rails

Well today was something we should of never done....We went RR fanning in some pretty bad weather....Its around 3pm and the skies are dark as you can see....There has been some severe thunder storm warnings and some tornado warnings in the area...As you can see....Something might just happen here today.....We then took no time on fooling around out side and took some shots of some pretty cool action that rarely happens here with the ELS and the WC....The ELS is so RR unfriendly and today I dont think they even care if where there shooting them....They prolly think where the dumb ones out here shooting pix of them in this bad weather....Anyways....Onto the pix
Our first pic of the day was we are set up here right at the diamond of the ELS and the WC...As you can see the ELS is holding short of the diamond as a WC train stomps on over the diamond

A shot of the WC power on todays train

As you can see as the WC train heads over the diamond and heads right into the eye of the storm...The train crew and the storm look eye to eye on one another...

With the WC train just about clear of the diamond...The ELS train starts to ease its train up to the diamond

With the WC train long gone...The ELS crew gets the ok to head over the diamond and heads in a clear direction away from the storm

By the time we got home....We didnt get any tornadoes...But some did hit north of here...All we got was some hail and some big boomers from the sky oh and we lost power for about 3 hrs or so

Nice shots WCL. Always enjoy looking at yours!

That CP coal train must have been a drag with only 2 units and some of those grades were actually visible to the unaided eye! I've taken 124 loaded coal sets up a fictional route that was at least 2.1% with three AC4400s. I think I did about 8 MPH up that hill in Run 8. I've also had potash trains which are far heavier but they also have 4 units. All in all the coal trains are worse because they have less HPT. (Horsepower per ton)

Thanks Jordan....Yeah it was a pretty long ride....Thanks for the comment....Keep an eye out for more...Coming soon your way from Plets Express....LOL....Good RR vids by that guy http://www.pletsexpress.com/ Lots of the ideas comes from these kinds of vids of the action in the area where we live in....

Today looked like a nice day to RR fan.....Not much damage from the storm....Which is a good thing.....Well we set out to look for some trains....Once we got in the area we heard some chatter on the scanner.....It was a CN auto train that was bound for the yard on this sub....So we found a spot and set up our gear.......
Right when we got set up....Our train came screaming around the bend

The next shot we got him passing the spur that leads up to the coal load out

This is the best spot for all RR fans....You get to capture this beautiful bridge in every pic.....This is a key feature on this line....And of course the big plant in the back round

Heading down the line you can see an old track to the right that was taken out of service

Passing the entrance to Quad Graphics we are still not lucky yet to catch them switching out the plant...The tracks to the right lead up to Quad where the track that goes to the left goes to a small yard to store cars for this plant

Standing on a small hill...The CN auto train flies on by

Here we see an old track that was taken out of service a while back....They took out the diamonds and just cut the rails back some and kept them in

Stomping over the ELS diamond...We see that the ELS train is going to head out of there small yard and do some switching down the line at some near by industries

The train has spotted its cars in the yard and the train now is at the service tracks where they will get serviced and head back out to the rails later today

At thats our day.....Maybe sometime I'll just go sit by that plant and wait for them to switch it out.......Till next time

Here we catch the ELS coming back after doing the interchange with the WC...The ELS had 11 cars for the WC but the WC didnt have any for the ELS today

Well here we are....At er again...Beautiful day today to RR fan the area.....Today we are going to hopfully follow 2 coal trains......First up on our list is a WC coal train with a nice lash up for power as he is getting a load of the black diamonds

With the train loaded...The train starts the big climb up out of the loading pit...As he is climbing the steep grade we then see another WC train is in the siding waiting to head down to the mine to get a load as well

As we move our gear closer to the main...We shot a shot of the waiting train in the siding

Here comes our train

As he slows down to make the switch onto the main they are lucky its an auto switch so the train does not have to come to a complete stop...Otherwise if this train did....It would have a hard time starting out again

Coming off the spur track and onto the mainline and now she will start to pick up speed

With the train on the main....She starts to pick up speed as she flies over this long span bridge

A fly by shot

Another shot of another bridge along the route

Now ducking under the ELS you can see the big paper mill that the ELS has just opened up for service

Here the train is stomping over the ELS diamond

With the train coming to a rest here at the depot...The crew will go in and hop in a crew car and head back to the other waiting train thats in the siding and get that one loaded up and take up the other way up the line

Back at the other train...The crew climbs on board and throttles up this train and heads for the loader

With the train under the loaded the process begins once again

As we magically compress the time the train is all loaded up now and ready to pull out...We were thinking on how they were going to do this with all the units up front and none on the other end to lead the train up the other way on the line

As we watch on what they do

They take the 3rd unit and leave that on the train and run the other 2 to the other end

With that all set and done...Air all pumped up the train gets on there way

As we see the 2 other units pushing up the hill

With the train back on the main...We can catch a quick glimpse of the huge plant in the back

With the train starting out we see him pass the spur that leads back to the mine

With a some what of a run by shot...He gets a red signal and has to stop....He calls the dispatcher to see why its red....Here there is a fault in the system so he got permission to head thru the red light

Here we catch the last unit shoving hard to get the train rolling again

As the train kept on going...We shot this last shot of him crossing this nice looking bridge
