A New Game

Its a more realistic sim, in that you have to start your locomotive, add your EOT, wait for your breaks to recharge. Its more of a trainer then a game. Has potential, but Trainz still wins.

Yeah well i'm still waiting for Trainz to be realistic which it has failed to do and it's getting annoying. They keep saying the reason why they don't allow explosions and real life accidents where the train is allowed to shred cars is because of the kids and it might not be appropriate for them which is totally BS considering what parents allow their kids to do these days. And the trains just going through each other is certainly not realistic either.

Oooh, I can't wait for realistic explosions and crashes in Trainz. I think that's the most important thing 'they' need to concentrate on.

...and isn't that was a train simulator is supposed to be about?

Yes, but some of the younger players out there might find it more challenging then Trainz. I am not dising Run8, as I do like it. But it is harder and more intense then Trainz. Also, as of right now its only GEVO's, and its only one route, and there are no tools yet available to build your own routes. But after all, its basically a few guys who built a new sim after years of making stuff for MSTS and it has become their jobs. When they lunched Run8, the not only lunched a new sim, but a new company. And as much as I love Tainz, I cant wait to see where Run8 goes.

Fun Run8 fact, it runs on XNA engine, so with the right equipment and some tinkering, you can run Run8 on an XBox360.

Not every Rail Simulator out there has to be 100% perfectly realistic.

Every bell on the train rings when you sound it. Weaving cars. Cars crossing the plate even when train is occupying it. The list goes on and on. No DPU abilities whatsoever. So it's still has A LOT to work on for improvements.

if the vid was a training session lol
124mph and passed several red signals....I am guessing but is it MSTS compatible as far as equipment or have to
create all new units etc.....

I haven't decided whether or not to get it. AFAIK it doesn't use DRM/product activation, which would immediately disqualify it if it did. However, I have a feeling that every time having to start the locos, charge the airbrakes, set the EOT, etc. would get old pretty fast. And, there is a lot of talk about the Run8 folks having atrocious customer support and relations.

Still thinking about it though.
