A little C&O GP9 goodness

I knew it was only a matter of time before we had people reskinning! :p

Looks great right now! One thing I might suggest if you'd want to in the future, a Chessie GP7/9 unit would look great! Still happy with the C&O unit though!

Looking forward to more shots!

Just downloaded the newer PSD files, will post pics after I redo my work..

Other units planned?

Well...

Nope, not gonna list em.....Learned my lesson long ago.

That yellow looks orange to me.

Worked on the coloring, it wasn't exactly right, but now I have it:

Is that VMD's model? I've reskinned it, but I don't know that I can upload it anywhere. I've made them as updates to units I've already made. First, the popular striped delivery scheme used on units #5901-6048. It appears that bells were installed on the top of the nose shortly after delivery, and initially were brass colored. Some time later on, they were painted blue:

Next, the "no stripes" scheme of 1956 that started with unit #6049:

Then the Futura scheme of 1957-63. C&O seemed to go a little "willy-nilly" on painting side sills and pilots with this version, perhaps due to the previous scheme they were repainting over. If old schemes had blue pilots, then C&O didn't bother painting them yellow. This was the delivery scheme starting with unit 6209, but with yellow side sills and pilots, so as my research progresses on details, I will have some things to edit:

And last, the C&O "doughnut" scheme, the last one pre-Chessie:

Of course, I've also made proper Phase III GP9's (#6263 above has been fixed), GP7's (including the 5700's for the PM District) and fictional SD9's (love me some 6-axles!).

Yeah, I am still working on the yellow.... By no means is this a dead project, merely on hold whilst I give them somewhere to roam....

Thank you, lsstaten. I did my best. These units are easier to reskin than I thought. I'm just glad I'm done with Clinchfield gray and yellow.

Indeed, they are quite easy to reskin... I just wished that he VMD folks hadn't gone on permanent vacation...... I had the same idea about skinning them up for the Clinchfield, that route deserves some decent power....

Shot of the 5700's

Here is the version of the scheme used on 5700-5797, units purchased for the PM District in Michigan and Canada. Engines 5720-5738 were actually built by GMD in London, Ontario. For some reason, 5 years later, 5720-5729 were returned and re-sold to NYC.

Engine 5704 is preserved as Indiana & Ohio 55, running passenger trains on the Lebanon-Mason-Monroe Railroad in Lebanon, Ohio. FWIW, my kids and I had our pic taken in the cab by the engineer back in 2005.

Clinchfield... challenge accepted. Geeps and Jointed Rails' F-units. :-) That was LAST spring breaks' project. That and the Wilkes-Barre & Eastern.

Original order, #900-911:

The Stimsonite numberboard was "fun" to make.

And I found a way to improve it a little....

I didn't see the error on this caboose before I posted the photo, but it's fixed now. It's in the config file, not the image files.
