hello all i am new to trainz and so far i love it but i have a few questions as this is more complicated than the other train sim i have used i currently have trs 2006 and am trying to figure out how to change my consist i wish to be able to choose which train i can drive on the route i choose is this possible??? also i am having trouble moving around in surveyor mode i just installed the game lastnight but i have been up all night as well trying to get the gist of it i went through all of the tutorials and driving is easy and fun but like i said i would like to be able to drive the big boy but dont know which scenario it is in and also how to maybe build my own consist to drive around the layout also is there a route explore mode in the game??? thank you to all who spare some time to point me in the right direction

If you want to drive your own selection of trains in a route you need to create a new session for that route. You can either:
-load the route in surveyor (without selecting one of the session names indented)
-load an existing session and do a save as (for just the session).

Then you can place whatever rolling stock you like. Once you get the hang of this, you can play with session rules (the piece of paper icon in the top toolbar). You can use this to allocate drivers and give them orders, and select more advanced settings.

It is complicated, but that's what makes Trainz so flexible - there are few things that really can't be done...

p.s. welcome to the forums - you'll find most folks pretty helpful - just try to punctuate so us old(er) folk can read your posts... ;)

No worries - much of this stuff is in the Manual (which may be a .pdf file on the disc these days), but I know that only covers so much...

You can also save your choice of engine and rolling stock as a consist, so the next time you want to use it, it's an easy one click placement!

2006 online manual 10.4.7.

also i am having trouble moving around in surveyor mode
In Surveyor the camera is always pointing towards the compass.

You can right-click with the mouse on the ground to move the compass, and also right-drag it.

In the Surveyor menu, there's an option to find named objects. When a named object is selected, the compass will move there.
