A fully functioning duel carriageway...

I'm not sure if it has been done before but hey, i had a lot of fun making it work. Big thanks to Andi06 for a great bit of kit.
If it has been done, don't yell at me, it's my first constructive thread.

Thanks Stephen for your comment.

Unfortunately my limited brain power prohibits me from uploading to the DLS, (Never done it.) However I have done a small tutorial on it.
I’ve made the main carriageway small for ease of viewing.

Using the AJS road system, you can see the first part, a road at each end and the first lane of the carriageway. Since the first lane has a lead in from the left on the bottom road and a lead out the left on the top road, the traffic can only travel up the left side of the lane.
Use the track straightening tool on the lane to straighten it.

In the second example you can see I’ve added another two roads, top and bottom that are connected to the second lane which also leads in and out to left. Using shift and move, move the second lane over to create two left lanes.

Add a grass verge or sidewalk to the left, leaving space for the lane. On the right of the two lanes do the same but this time cover the dotted lines.

example004.jpg

Next, add a lane coming from a right feed going the other way. Move this one over so it is hidden under the verge as you are using the right side of the lane this time.

Add another lane and move it as you did with the left side to create the two lanes. Place a verge or sidewalk with enough room to show the lane and you’re done.

It should look something like this.

As you can see from the above pictures there are traffic lights, I use the ATLS system as you can use single lights.
You can hide the end roads if you wish or use them as part of your layout.
So motorways are no problem now, right?

Also, I’d like to say a very big thank you to the creators of the objects used and indeed to all the creators on the DLS. If I had half your intelligence I’d consider myself a genius.

Pity it can't be uploaded. Some time ago someone sent me some info about the uploading procedure which I lost by accident. Would be handy to know as once I get my new pc over the next week I want to upload a large route i have done.

Pity it can't be uploaded....

Unless I am missing something everything required is on the DLS and has been for ages. Andi06's road 'kit' goes back to at least early TRS06 content, might even be 04. It was designed for exactly the purpose ChugChug has rediscovered. Oh for the old forum wherein there was a thread which fully expounded the potential of the system...

Hi Andy, as I said in the first part of the thread, if it had been done before, don't yell at me...:( I know your not yelling:D and Andi's road kit has been there for yonk's but i never had as much time as i do now. It was always somthing that bugged me ever since I first started playing with this all time consuming, get off my back woman, no I don't want to go out tonight, game.
As far as I knew, no one had done a one lane road, as in one way traffic. Andi's roads were perfect for it as they were transparent and didn't shimmer when laid on top of each other.

Just a foot note...If I've affended anyone that may have done it before me, let me say here and now, I apologize.

BTW...If you reverse it, it will work for them wrong side of the road uses.:hehe:

Hi ChugChug - I did not mean to imply that you had erred in any manner whatsoever, it is great to see content like this rediscovered. Your post clearly sets out that you are using existing content. I was just a bit surprised to see a couple of posts asking you to upload something that is already there.

Andy...

Hi andy, again...we must stop meeting like this.

If you would be so kind as to show me this download of one way traffic on two lanes, I might leave my wife for you.

By the way, I'm half way through the M1 and I've hit a snag, can you point me in the right direction for some road markings, as in arrows and numbers...?

And thanks for taking the time to reply.

????

Andi06 created the AJS road system to overcome some of the limitations of 'normal' roads in Trainz. IIRC the thread introducing the system was titled "They Said It Was Impossible". The system is exactly what you are using. Since you have cracked the system alone and unaided I require no payment whatsoever. Anyway I already have a wife, and one is enough. On occasion one is more than enough.

Can't help with markings etc since roads are something I avoid on my routes beyond an absolutely minimalist representation. Traffic (one way or otherwise) is invariably toggled 'off'.

Andy ;)

Engfer has some good ones.... but unless you speak German, downloading is always a surprise what you get. Try these http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_packcontents.php?AssetPackID=8826

PaulzMay does a great set of UK painted road signs too.

Hi Andy
I remember reading about the post when i first started thinking about it but could never find that post, search all over but the computer said...Nooo

Thanks boat, I'll take a look, by the way, great work you do.

Alan.

Thank You, chug chug!

Thank you chug, chug for telling me how to do this. I sort of reasoned there might be a way to do Dual Carriageways - even three lane motorways or city streets (as in Central London) - but couldn't work it out myself!

I think I can follow how you did it - I'll give it a try when I'm not tinkering around with the "Withered Arm".

Hi Sterrett..

Thanks for looking in and good luck with your project.

I'm just finishing off Juntion 24 of the M1, will upload a pick when done.
