A Fatal Error

I love NYC Trainz :-)
Good Afternoon everyone,

My name is Tamara an i am very new to this Trainz game i have a TRS2004 game yes i know very old lol but i didn't want to buy the latest versions until i get the hang of the older version first. Any who i need assistance the game loads properly and everything but wen i click to load anything in either Driver,or Surveyor i get a fatal error,

i am able to go to railyard etc but wen it come to loading anything i get that can some one please help me :(
 
Im an old hat at this and am having no luck with the downloadstation today either. Maybe down right now? support is slow at best, keep checking other threads. Most all answers can be found there/here.

i have read everything an juss like that person i still have a problem it show the fatal error after i try to load anything

I know not much can be done i'm afrad I get there form time to time but i'v got top of the ling video card well its the new NVIDIA GeForce 210 card but it decreases the times i get the Error buy a lot but I do get them.:eek:

I know The Madding Fatal Error its Evil and Is out to get unlucky TRS plaryer.

all you can do is keep trying and play arount intell it dies out. Its like trying to find a ball in the dark you will fix it after playing arount alot.

Pasky thing Why do that make you have the Stuped error we all hate it. makes you wont to chock it. sorry i got carryed away agen i know the feels it cosed a hard drive failer ones and i lost avery thing......
 
My advice is to get TRAINZ 2010. I have yet to get any kind of Fatal Error with this version. With TRS2006 I got them all the time. (And it ain't my computer wise guys. I have a very powerful computer.) It's the older versions of TRAINZ that give Fatal Arrors, IMHO.

Welcome to the world of Trainz and welcome to the forums. The problem that you have posted relates to the Directx dynamic link library in your Trainz installation. I dont know if this will solve the problem for you but its worth a try. Most people when installing a game don't install the Directx software on the game disk if they already have Directx installed on their systems. It is often the case that the installation software for the game will skip the Directx installation if it detects a current version of Directx being installed. I am not sure what version of Directx comes with TRS2004 because I no longer have that disk but if you pop the game disk in your drive and close down the autorun window you can then right click on the disk icon and select explore. Their will be a folder on the disk called 'Extras' and in this folder should be a Directx folder, in which you will find a 'Set up' icon. Click this to force the installation of Directx. Games can sometimes be fussy about Directx and best work with the version on the game disk.

The problem that you have reported relates to Directx9 so if this is not the version that is on the game disk then ignore the instructions above and go here instead http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=8b5cd64e-b4be-4135-95f8-ecfcf9182431 and install Directx9c.

i do have Directx9c already on my computer the game is new todaii is the first day that i installed trs2004 to my computer so i really dont understand why it isnt working ive never played the game at all according to alot of people here there trainz game was working for a day or so but mines neva proceeded past the load stage

Have you tryed to uninstall it and reinstall it. try that frist someing my not ben installed right. I think i may have a idea i forzen screen at loading screen in TRS09 all I do wend this happends is I go in task manager and click on processes scroll intell you find someing Trainz04 or trainz.exe someing like that then lift click your mouse on it End Process this well forse the game to reset then restart Trains. try that afew times i'm not shore but it may help.

sorri that doesnt work it keeps saying sumthing about C:\Program File\Auran\Trs2004\Bin\RenderDirectX9.dll but i have directX 9 installed already i have everything so i still dont understand y it doesnt work

The bad news is that PC has an onboard SiS 730s AGP4 video chip max of 64MB of shared memory, I would check it's not set to a low value in the bios, from the details provided in the report, it would appear to only be at 16MB.

Probably better to get a separate ATI or Nvidia AGP card have checked the specs and there is a slot for one, Unfortunately SiS by the way are bottom of the heap as far as gaming graphics, are concerned.
 
Thank you all for your help i really appreciate it but i think i found out the problem i think its my video card/graphics card or sumthing in that area how can check to know wat type of card i have so i can update it ?

Tamara,

Looking at your system specs on the previous page you have an integrated graphics chip which is more than likely to be causing your problems. Moree info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SiS_630/730

To find out for sure go to Control Panel then Performance and Maintenance then System then click on the Hardware tab, and finally click Device Manager and look for Display Adapters in the list.Click the small plus sign alongside it. The graphics chip/card that you have installed will be listed here.

What you have posted is the driver for the graphics which clam1952 and I both agree is an onboard (shared memory) graphics chip. This is not going to be good enough to run the game. You will need a dedicated graphics card but on top of that your processor is slow and RAM is a bit on the lean side. If you want the best from the game you would need a new system sorry :(
