Of course, a very significant date in the history of our American friends.
I was fortunate enough to visit Pearl Harbour some years ago and was greatly moved on our visit to the Arizona Monument. I can vividly remember seeing the oil from the stricken Battleship still bubbling to the surface some 65 years after the event.
Those who sadly lost their lives on that infamous day will never be forgotten.

The scene that always sticks we me is the famous footage of the Arizona's forward Magazine exploding. the whole forward part of that ship doesn't exist anymore...over a thousand men died in an instant. I hope we never forget...for we saw what happens when we do.

During my 22 years in the Royal Australian Navy, I visited/worked at Pearl Harbor several times. As a Vietnam Veteran, my visit to the Arizona memorial was especially poignant. Never to be forgotten. "We will remember them."

I have a photo, taken of me shortly after completing recruit school, in blues (bell bottoms). I'm surprised I was ever that skinny,
I never visited the memorial but sailed past the Arizona many times and was amazed that you could see the turret just below the waterline. The oil was leaking then as well.
Yesterday (10th) marked the same anniversary of the sinking of the Prince of Wales and Repulse off Malaya 3 days after Pearl Harbour. That's something the Brits seem to want to forget.
