9/11/01...remember all those lost that day

I am watching 102 Minutes That hanged America right now on History.
It's the least I can do to help, also Google is have a thing where every time you open up the page, it stops Google & take a minute to remember those lost at 8:46 AM today 10 years ago

My hat's off, hand on heart.

To those slain on that day, and to the thousands upon thousands more innocent civillians now dead in the middle east.

I miss easy flight. I miss days when paranoia was not so rampant. I miss days without endless security checks and cameras pointed on the innocent.

A huge shame that certain régime changes in certain countries have not succeeded as expected.

And such a shame that my country, Australia, has ceased to be the carefree and laid-back place it once was before this horrific event, and it's repercussions.

That day changed the whole world.

Not just America. Not just the Middle East and North Africa.

Let us never forget how much that day affected our beautiful world; all over, and in every country.

Aside from the loss of life across the world from the event and still-continuing aftermath, the biggest shame is that so few terrorists manages to change the world for the worse.

Selfish fools have ruined our planet, our countries, our cities, our people, our lifestyles: By merely hi-jacking some planes. Ten years since the world changed by the actions of lunatics.

I started this rant with my hat off and hand on heart, and I finish it with tears. I want our old planet back.

do you have that on the download station, i would like to have it for a keepsake

It is on the Download Station.

Note that it only includes the two towers and the complex (or whatever it is called (the name escapes me now); it is that tiled-looking area between the towers with a statue). It does not include the other five buildings that were also part of the World Trade Center (the WTC was not composed of just the two towers).

Regards,

Retro.

It's not just "a few" terrorists from ten years ago. What these "few" carried out is a vast network that has wormed it's way into civilized culture and who's hatred and destruction of our free Republic is currently in the vicious plans, minds and desires of countless more people that want to attack and brutally murder more innocent Americans.
If you want to disagree or discuss it, PM me. I haven't forgotten.

This day is all about the victims of 9/11 and not a day for any politicians to be grandstanding.

Well said!

It is about remembering and trying to make sure it never happens again.

The sad end of it all

I was not even two yet, when the towers fell. I was in New York City, on 20th Street in Manhatten, not so far from the WTC. My mom went to pick up my sister when they heard the towers were struck (my parents were telling me this recently) and when my mom retured, the towers had fallen. It turns out, someone from my sister's school was ON one of the flights that crashed into Twin Towers.

Now this is not meant to be silly or anything like that, but railfanning would never be the same. Higher security, more police officers, and even us railfans getting arrested near high populated areas. You can't even railfan in GCT (Grand Central Terminal) without being questioned by the police (I wasn't probably because I'm a kid). Whenever I go railfanning on the Hudson Line I'll aim for a low populated area not close to NYC.

I remember a couple years ago me and my dad would take the PATH to New York, and I was about six and on the train, my dad said, "Thats where the Twin Towers were." The tunnel was still cut open from the attack, and all you could see were giant pits where the twin towers were. And that was the sad ending, riding passed some giant pits which is where I could've seen two massive towers.

Thank you...

Thank you to all who shared their thoughts and memories about 9/11/01.

Now that this day is ending, I will ask the Mods to close this thread.

It was sad to see some of the children who lost a parent share their thoughts about them during the memorial services.

Now we should get back to enjoying Trainz and hope for a better future for everyone.

Kind regards,
