As the 10 year anniversary of that day approaches, I hope the Trainz Community will remember all the police, fire, EMT, Military, flight crews and passengers and all the others who were lost that day.

The estimated loss of life is 2.976, but we may never know the exact number.

We must also remember the other incidents in London (7/7) and the Madrid incidents that followed in later years.

Do you remember where you were on that day?

I was living and working in California then. A few minutes after the major news networks started reporting on the event in New York, my son in Chicago called us to turn on the news. It was just before 6 AM in California.

We watched as the second plane went into the other tower. Then the other reports about the Pentagon and the plane in Pennsylvania.

It was a sad day at work, many employees left their equipment and came into the cafeteria crying. We sent the people home to be with their families.

Remaining shifts for that day were cancelled.

So, I ask that we take a moment to remember those lost and their families.

Kind regards,

I remember where I was when it happen. I was sitting along the Boston harborfront watching the planes leave and come into Logan airport which I did about once a week for about 2 to 3 hours during the nice weather months. I arrived around 7:30 that morning, So I most likely saw the planes take off at Logan depending on what runway they took off on.

While, None of my friends or family were lost in the attack. My family has a long time friend who is a stewardess for United Airlines and at the time of the attack. She was in the air, But she was doing the Los Angeles to Hawaii flight. In 2000, She did the Boston to Los Angeles flight for a few months as she was on the specific flight that I went to Los Angeles to see my family back in October of 2000.

Hello,

Ironically enough, that morning, I was touring the local Fire Department. I say Ironic because of the impending fate of my 343 fellow Firefighter's killed that morning, and also because of the fact I am becoming a Firefighter myself (Currently working through the Junior program). While I had never had the pleasure of meeting the two personally, two relatives to familes, one of which I am close with, were killed. Both were Firefighters with the FDNY. Rest in peace, not only to my 343 brothers, but also to the Port Authority Officers, and Civilians, who were killed on that fateful day.

Take care,

I don't remember much that day cause I was young, but I still remember how my mom was scared. She couldn't call my dad at all because of all the phone calls going on.

I will never forget 9/11. It was a terrible day for the U.S, and I hope it never happens again.

I was only 2. But in faint memory it saw my mom and dad guled to the TV and the tissues piling up. Wow. What a horribe thing. So what will u do on 9 11?

I was in 3rd grade at the time, and was in class. our principal came into the room and whispered something to our teacher. i'll remember the look on her face till the day i die. We were released out of school, and i got home in time to see the second plane slam into the second tower. I was a history buff, even back them, and the images in my head were the U.S.S. Arizona going up in flames, mixed with a kamikaze hitting the Carrier U.S.S. Bunker Hill. I kept thinking "why isn't the air force in the air? We're under attack, every fighter in the country should be airborne!" Little did i understand that, just like Pearl Harbor, it came so fast that the fighters couldn't even start rolling before it was over.

God rest the souls that died that day, many unaware they were even under threat by religious fanatics filled with an insane-man's lies. I refuse to believe those who stormed the flight decks of those airliners represented the majority of their people, and i pray for their souls as well. May we never forget, for if we forget, it is bound to happen again.

I was also in third grade(a very young third grader at that) but I knew what had happened, I think it is partly our fault as stated earlier, just like I think Pearl Harbor was partly our fault, if you do not know what happened a couple years before Pearl Harbor, we actually blocked the japanese off from natural resources on other islands, and before that, we forced westernization on them when we fired cannon shells at them, I know my history and in a way history is repeating itself, once Pearl Harbor was struck, what did we do, we built more planes and tanks, etc. for a fight. Similar case with 9/11, once we were attacked, we built more to fight them back. This is my 2 cents

I do feel sorry for the people who died that day, it was a true shame

I remember that day like it was yesterday, I was driving interstate in a B-Double approaching the QLD border to refuel when the new's broke so i stopped in at the roadhouse and stayed a few hour's watching it unfold on TV waiting for sum announcer to say it was all sum sick joke i think all of us in the roadhouse that evening watching it were praying for it to be a sick joke but unfortunately it wasn't. I had a older sister who was to marry and live over there with a nice American Bloke she had met and their marriage was put back two year's because of immigration change's brought out after this tragedy. I'll never ever forget it for as long as i live and i still think about it quite often as the world hasn't or will never be the same place again no matter where you live, To those that were lost either by just being their doing their job's or those that were lost trying to save other's i hope you Rest In Peace. To those responsible i hope you burn in Hell.
Mick.

We here in the UK will never forget that day when the world changed, our thoughts go out to those who were brave, who lost there lives to try and save others, and to those family's who are still torn apart today, wanting to know why this ever happened. May this terrible act never happen again.

Watching the towers via the fledgling BBC web site video was a sobering experience. A terrible day that accomplished nothing but more deaths.

Only in grade 5 at the time but i can remember seeing on the TV pretty well, mum said it was going to be the start of something very big...

I watched that film "flight 93" the other night and it was one of the most moving movies i've ever seen, people of many different races and countries worked together and got so close to getting the plane back. True American spirit.

Anyone see this on the news,

Least we forget

I was watching Norfolk Southern freight trains in operation in North Carolina when I heard. I initially thought when Flight 11's crash was just an accident, but after ten minutes of thought, something told me, it was bigger than what I currently thought. Sadly enough, it was. While I didn't lose anyone (thank God), a friend of mine who worked on the New York Central Railroad from 1952 to 1968, then Penn Central from 1968 to 1976 and Conrail from 1976 to 1980. He was a great man, and spoke to me a lot about the final years of steam on the NYC. I miss him dearly, because he was a huge railfan right from the end and loved to watch trains running or switching along the former Pennsylvania Railroad and Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (even though he worked for NYC) I'd rather not say how he died, it would mess with my heart strings all over again. But, I will say this, may he be remembered, not as a victim, but as a passionate railroad/railfan. And I miss him dearly. :'(

I lost no one, but this makes me feel bad, I feel like I've got a tear.

I understand, I was in a horrible catasoripe myself in 2005. I think you guys know what I'm talking about...

I do remember the day vividly; it was our 19th wedding anniversary (yes, we were married on 9/11....I remember the awful feelings we had while we watched the events unfold during the day, unable to do anything but wonder what was going to happen next and how many poor souls would be taken.

I remember I was in preschool at the time and I knew nothing about 9/11 until i was in 2nd or 3rd grade atleast. Well, at least Osama Bin Laden is dead.

I would have been in elementary then 1st grade. I don't really remember much besides the fact that we went straight home that day, and seeing my parents all watching the tv of the towers burning. That was a very sad day for us.

Seems like only one year ago we did this: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=61836&highlight=world+trade+center
