30 Inch Wish List

I have a few things I need to find for my NG30 project. The era I'm trying to model is early 1900's to the 1930's. Some items may exist and I just haven't found them, and some probably do not exist. I have scoured the DLS, Google, and the narrow gauge sites that I know of. If any NG30 creators are up to it, cheers and thanks. Any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

30in check rails and frogs

30in crossing boards or ramps

A 30in version of the log loading decker thing from Northbay County, or something similar.

30in reefer cars... so far I have reskinned Sub Par Production's boxcars for my own use, but there are no roof hatches for the ice. I have the 28ft NG36 reefer which I changed trucks on, but I can't seem to replace the pin couplers with auto couplers.

Any kind of old timey looking overhead loader to load wood chips into gondolas.

Any kind of coal consuming industry that would be appropriate for the early 1900's

I'm sure more stuff will be added to this list by myself or others.

For the industry, you can always use a multiple industry new, or protolars, track and then place appropriate looking buildings around them. That will allow you to build it up how you want it :)

For the overhead loader, I'm currently working on a generic 'bulk loads elevator'.
http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/bulk-load-elevator-05.jpg

It's designed for a 'standard gauge' train (actually it's for a broad gauge, but the height isn't really any different...), but should look alright against mid-large size NG trains. Comes in 3 versions, 1 is just a static scenic object, 1 is an industry object for loading wagons, and the 3rd is an industry object with the elevator facing away from the train, to allow for unloading from the train into other vehicles.

I hope to have the bulk loads elevator finished and uploaded very soon :)

Thank you, Zec. I'm not sure if I can use your conveyor, but I found some of your buildings on the DLS that I may be using. Thank you for the reply. As far as the coal consuming industries, I suppose I was looking for suggestions for a large industry to unload coal to. I really like the NG30 coal hoppers I have and I wanted to have some mining trains that unload to something other than coal transfers.

Also folks, I found the check rails and frogs. 2ft6 also means 30in. Hehehehe...

You may find some more stuff that you can use by searching for 760mm (which is the European equivalent for 30in) I do know that there are some check rails for this gauge. I will try and find the KUID

Thank you, I will check them out. Also thanks for the metric conversion, that should open some doors for me.

Add this to your list too: 121794:10001

Also michael-h (kuid 200726) has a lot of 760mm stuff that's worth looking at...

Ok, I have the ramps, frogs, and check rails. I have also re-skinned an overhead loader for the wood chips to look more antique. At least it's good enough to get my mill area started.

I am also curious as to what kind of signals I should use for a narrow gauge RR set anywhere in the US in the 1920's.

And the big question is: How can I make the logging decker from Northbay County into a 30in version? I know how to change trucks and attached track, but the rails the cars ride up onto when passing through the decker are the problem. Does anyone have the skills or some directions on how to do this?

the rails you are talking about on the decker industry are part of the mesh. If you want a 30in version, talk to slugsmasher, see if he will edit the mesh for us. :)

Not many narrow gauges had a signal system. It was all done with a time table. Since narrow gauge speeds were slower than standerd gauge, it was eaiser to stop a train. I think the SRRL had a high ball system for certin points along the line.

If I were to put a signal system on a NG RR during the 20s, i would use a symnophore system.

Rock On!
