2010 populating a route with rolling stock

In Trainz 2010 there's a 'railyard' feature. I have no idea if it's in the earlier versions. At any rate, in the railyard one can designate rolling stock and engines as a 'favorite.' Only those designated as favorite will show up as one scrolls through the railyard.

However, when going to surveyor and placing rolling stock on a route, everything shows up to select from, not just the favorites in the railyard.

Is there some way to restrict the available cars in surveyor. For instance, on a US route, I would prefer not to have to scroll through British rolling stock.

Thx for any help.

forget what I said, I can't even get the railyard to exclude cars that I turn off from favorites. Basically I have no idea what's going on with the railyard vis a vis 'favorites.'

I have TRS2006 which allows you to disable items using the CMP (Content Manager Plus).Doing so prevents the item from appearing in either Railyard or Surveyor. TRS2010 should have a similar function.

In CM3 select all the stock you want to have available and give them a single rating between 1 and 5. In Surveyor, select the search function and use the Filter box to show only those items with your selected rating.

Another way is to select all your favourites and drag them into the pick list. That same picklist will be available in Surveyor and you work from that.

The system is very versatile but you need to look for the things it can provide.

In Railyard there's a button labled Favorites. If you click that, you switch between showing all items and showing only 5 star rated items. For each item there will be a little green or gray circle. That indicates Favorite status and if you click it then it'll toggle between green (5 star) and gray. (not rated?)

In Surveyor there is a button on the top bar called Content Search Filter. You click that and a search panel pops up, and you can add all sorts of filters. By default there will already be one filter: Rating=5 Stars. To keep that filter from being automatically applied, you disable "Show only favorite content" in Surveyor settings on the Options screen. There are quite a few filters and they can be combined in various ways so you can filter out the stuff you don't want. For example, if you just want US stuff, use the Region=United States filter. (The filters are basically the same as you see in Content Manager's search panel and you can save searches for later use.)

Thanks to all for the info. It does sound very versatile, and I should have spent more time examining it before shouting out.
