2009 Language query

Firstly Welcome Zec, this may not be a new query but have not seen the question asked before ,but is it possible for a conversion to English for installed items in the program ,when building a layout its a case of viewing a thumbnail image to find out each item identity.

If your talking a foriegn language to you , do a search in the TS2009 forum , type in "intro" ,
there are downloads on the DLS to cure this problem !

Searching sometimes will give you an immediate answer rather than having to wait for a response !

My thoughts --- ,DLR

Unfortunately, I do not believe that the post is intending the built-in layouts but rather the built-in content such as signals, buildings and such. This query has indeed been touched on but many in regards to the layouts at DLR has mentioned in his post above.

Trainz is a multi-national community where anyone can contribute. If the creator is knowledgable of other languages, they are able to add names and descriptions in other languages if they wish.

I am saddened to say that I am one of the many who do not know any other languages and sadly have been unable to learn any more than the merest of basics. So my creations too are only in english. Though, if I ever feel confident enough with my creations, I may use google to perform a conversion for me. It is possible to cut and paste the name or description and use bable fish to translate "foreign language" names and descriptions but since trainz perfers to run in full screen mode, switching from Trainz to bable fish can be a real pain. Having said that, I believe that it is the true solution for our "international community".

I hope I have not offended anyone with these remarks. They are only my insights to the problem and how I deal with them daily.

Have Fun!

Hi Dogsbody
As has been said, many creators do not have English as their native language, and many don't speak English fluently enough to be able to translate the name of their works into English (and other languages...). Hence they leave the name of their object in their native language. As well as naming the object in the native language of the intended user base.

Granted, the items have wound up in Trainz. However, for recent versions of Trainz, assets have been mostly left up to the 3rd part groups that were creating for that version. And if they were created in a non English language, then they were created in a non English language. And if they wanted to use assets from other people that weren't in English, then in many cases the asset had to be used unchanged.

Have fun

Definetly not offended , I simply missinterputed the post . I am still trying to get a grasp on the English Language , even after more than a 1/2 century ?

Maybe soon(tm) ! --- ,DLR

Hi DLR,

I too have 1/2 a century behind me but only 9 years since a stroke that took all my other languages and skills away from me. I often make errors and missunderstand many things. I often do not respond to most queries due to the limited understanding I have. I am learning but I think the cancer will take me before I can contribute the extent I would like to.

I am actually surprised that I correctly interpreted the request on this one!

Have a great one!

Bricey:)
