2 lane one-way street

Sorry...another one from me,

What changes do I need to make to a config file for a standard two lane road (traffic travelling in opposite directions) to make a 2 lane road which has both sets of traffic travelling in the same direction ? I am sure that this could be done from TC3 onwards but I cant find any reference to it in the forums

Thanks Andy

I have been cheating on this for ages and with the help of the AJS street kit I have had some great fun and set up some really good trafic scenarios.

By using the invisible traffic spline (the traffic is visible just the set up lines disappear) and you can achive most things.

some simple rules to help

Traffic will always diverge to the left if you merge roads

Invisible traffic will not generate new vehicles in driver, so remember to add a road or another AJS traffic spline where you want to start cars.

By leaving the end of the road as an invisible traffic spline no cars will come in the opposite direction!

Lay two, two-way, invisible traffic splines together and start the sections you want to generate new cars with either a conventional road or an AJS traffic with lines.

Dont panic if surveyor shows cars coming in the opposite direction as they will not appear in Driver

I just had fun setting the roads to start and end in a car park where incoming cars end up in a car park space and the outgoing ones start out from another.

Also with the ATLS system you can make some amazing junction layouts with traffic light controls!

Hope that helps but please check in again for any more advice

Hi Andy

I am not really familiar with 09 I'm afraid. Does that mean that you can't use his street kit? - Does the traffic not flow on AJS roads in 09?

That would be a shame, as it adds so much realism to a route.

If his roads show traffic in 09, give my suggestions a try - It only requires laying of roads and no other assets are needed - the ATLS controller only comes in if you need to create traffic light junctions or upgrade level crossings to give the gates more time to close before the trains arrive.

do let me know what you think.

You do not need the AJS Traffic Controller. That is part of Andi06's old traffic light system. Use Boat's ATLS system instead, which is a lot more flexible and should work in TS2009 and later. ;)

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try

You can find more information on Boat's ATLS system on his website at http://www.boatztrainz.co.uk/. ;)

There are also some third-party ATLS assets on the DLS, such as high-quality U. K. railway crossing signals and gates/barriers. ;) Just search for "ATLS" (without the quotation marks) on the DLS. ;)

Regards.

Hi Andy

I am posting a couple of screenies

First is the "Driver" screenshot, showing two lane traffic coming towards the camera and single file going in the opposite direction - I have also set up the traffic lights to control cars coming out of the car park on the right of the shot - This is a fav part of this route!

Next is the view in Surveyor from the opposite side. Note the lay of invisible road inside the car park generating cars from one space and "parking" cars in another - Remember the invisible road does NOT generate new cars, so a feed at one end only from a regular road spline will simply bring traffic in ONE direction. :)

I'm hoping it convinces you to have a go - do let us know.

All the best - Nij
