    Ignore this post

Yeah, he also gave me permission of modify and release anything made by him under my kuid to use in the Uintah railway. He had a remarkable longevity record.

    Ignore this post

I would like to know what happened to Peter , the OP. He would now be well over 100, last time I saw him was in the external shed/rumpus room he was living in , behind a relatives house in a leafy Adelaide suburb . I imagine he has now passed on to the great railroad in the sky , VALE Peter...

weird lagging with one board in middle of route.

Today I've had to delete and remake one board right in the middle of a route due to such bad lagging when I tried to manipulate terrain. It was so bad that I could hardly move the cursor, eventually I deleted all objects and textures and went back to the bare grid - it STILL would not allow me...

    Trainz Update Announcement (SP6)

I've been gradually scaling some of them down and trying to remove the carpet effect. and also making them a bit more MB efficient by shrinking the file size,as long as it doesn't degrade the image , 36mg or more for a basic texture seems excessive to me.

    Real Life Model Railroading

So did my dad, he worked on the railways as a fireman and my grandfather drove on the GWR , had no choice but to love trains with that background. Dad died of lung cancer in 1989 , 18 months after migrating to Australia, I had an entire garage all ready to build a rocky mountain layout and he...

    Real Life Model Railroading

Hmm, a new member who gave up on the sim years ago, then why are you bothering to post here at all ? Anyway, I gave up on model railroads several decades ago, you have to have a LOT of space to achieve anything meaningful , the models are HUGELY expensive and it makes a great deal of mess to...

    Colorado Narrow Gauge?

I'm guessing you've never made a freeware route and tried to assure that every single item that is used is available on the DLS. its almost impossible to do, as 1. It severely restricts what the creator can achieve, because for reasons that vary, a number of creators are reluctant to put their...

    Colorado Narrow Gauge?

Uintah railway, alpine tunnel route ,both Colorado ng. I'm currently working on an extension of the latter to crested butte. There's not really any track that really looks like genuine ng track , it's all too regular and has too much ballast , I usually use one of pencils tracks and drop it down...

Does anybody know if there are any good White Pass & Yukon routes out there?

the best way to to that is make them available on the DLS and allow people to update them as they see fit. I would probably have updated some of them by now but I will not do that purely for own use. I prefer to work so that others can enjoy routes as I rarely if ever drive any route for...

Ongoing Investigation: SP6 Route Performance & Redraw Issues

I have uploaded to the DLS a bunch of sages that were performance killers in SP5, they all use png files instead of tga's and are now in a library and have had LOD modifications, bringing triangle counts down to 77,000 from what was previously over a million. I claim no credit for this its all...

Ongoing Investigation: SP6 Route Performance & Redraw Issues

I will upload my sagebrush assets tomorrow as i want to see if the new build wrecks them , by adding a mod and lod we reduced the triangle count from the millions down to 77 ,000. A number of jvcs older grass groups also caused issues in sp5 if one uses the 2019 fix versions from the dls they...

    Trainz Update Announcement (SP6)

I always hold put for ages before I apply any update ( unless its for security and even then I've deleted a recent windows 11 update due to it wiping out some drives). Given the terribly spotty history of Trainz updates in general ( promising much and often delivering very little ) I still...

This is driving me round the bend

Your description of what was going on with your route is like something out of horror movie John. Sorry to heat you've had all those issues.Makes my problems look utterly insignificant in comparison. Actually since i've just confined by activities to a specific set of low triangle assets, I've...
