It's legitimate however I'd suggest either TANE for $10 https://store.trainzportal.com/prod...s=5&_sid=bdc2c4866&_ss=r&variant=510629150726 or TS19 for $14.99 both are later versions and have more content available but the free version works fine.

The domain is owned by N3V so yes it is legitimate. Of course, using a 15 year old 32 bit program on a modern computer is not for the faint of heart. The offer is aimed at giving you a taste of the Trainz experience and frustrating you enough to make you buy a new version.
