In five words Bill:
"Yes and No"
And just to use the other two words
:
Certainly the diversification into Android and 'i' operating systems has proved worthwhile by broadening the user base and bringing in some extra revenue. I'm making an educated guess that re-writing the old Jet Code into TANE engine code will have made such diversification easier (same code base ports to many platforms). I'm sure there are still good commercial reasons to continue on that path.
I bought one of the early 'full' versions of TS for Android but basically found it unusable on a 10" Samsung tablet for anything other than casual driving - but then, personally, I'm no fan of touch screens.
You have been around the Trainz scene for a long while now Bill and inevitably will have found your comfort zone in a pre TANE version (it's human nature) so why not just stick to that for your personal use ? Nobody is asking you to move to TANE - indeed I was very comfortable with content creation in TS12 and am now faced with new challenges in TANE
but I think the effort will be worth it for the improved visuals & performance in TANE.
So, in summary and in 5 words:
"TANE plus variations equals happiness"
(Maybe )
