YouTube videos and ads making money

Back on July 25, I recently recived an email from YouTube about one of four Trainz videos I have posted there, it is about placing ads on one of the videos. I have never done anything with Internet ads before, I tried looking for information and noticed one topic on the YouTube forums stating that users should have permission when a video involves game footage.

Since my videos currently involve Trainz I would like to know Auran's position on this regarding Trainz users posting videos and getting offers to have ads placed with the video that generate revenue. From what I have read, software companies have to give permission, one example the company has no problem so long as the videos are five minutes or less.

Also do creator licenses cover this as well, I usually figure they covered things like no selling, no reskinning for sale/release but I am not sure about use of creator items in videos that have ads for profit added. From what I have seen, usually there is not much profit but I figure this should be covered anyhow. Thanks.

If you have made that video, then the copyright of that video belongs to you.

Youtube allowed users to download a Frank Sinarta (with permission) song to be used in a contest, and allowed to use as background music. But a while ago, they muted a lot of the videos with that song (that we all got & allowed to use with permission). Their was no advance notice from Youtube either.

So even though we had permission, they still denied permission to use it as a background music, even though Youtube said we could.

It's not that simple. If your video shows things which are copyrighted by others, then they may have some claim as well - the use of background music is a good example.

I'd be suprised if Auran would mind, especially if the video is one that showcases Trainz well. If it's normal practice to seek the permission of developers, then it's probably best.

Are they offering you a youtube partnership? If so u get a custom profile banner and you make money of your adds.

I agree with Paul. But I have not known of whatever Auran's position was, if they even have one. I tried asking HelpDesk but have not seen anything for a couple of weeks.
And there is also rights of third party creators to consider.

Yes, this is what I am refering to but in some cases certain creator/company rights have to be followed before saying, "I'm in."
