I didn't know what forum thing to put it in so i put it here...

What's your nearest station like? What company is it managed by? What trains stop there. Lets see how many we can get...

Mine is Acton Bridge, run by London Midland. It is on the west coast mainline (UK), has 3 platforms. 350s stop there but 390s, voyagers, mail class 325s and loadsa freight zoooooom through at 100mph. Whats yours like?

I will add to this - my nearest one is Kidderminster station,operated by London Midland and Chiltern Railways.

There are 4 trains towards Birmingham, 2 trains towards Worcester, and 2 that terminate from Birmingham (London Midland - usually Class 150 Sprinters)

There is also a few Class 66 freight trains (usually steel)

Chiltern operate to London Marylebone in the early morning (before 9:30 Monday-Saturday) and back from Marylebone terminating from half 7 onwards (Class 168 Clubman trains)

Hi Everybody.
My nearest station is Yatton in Somerset which I use very regularly. It is only a small station but fortunately on a mainline.

There are local services to Bristol Temple Mead, Bristol Parkway and Cardiff. in the other direction there are Trains for Weston-super-Mare and Taunton every half-hour plus Trainz to further destinations in the West country at various times. Some HST services originating from Taunton to London Paddington stop there and all originating services from Weston-super-Mare to London Paddington also stop there.

Within a few minutes extra drive from where I live is the Weston-super-Mare station approximately 15 minutes traveling time where Arevia cross-country services stop and therefore Trains to all Midlands and northern cities along with Glascow can be boarded.

We are very fortunate for railways considering I live in a Somerset coastal town. However, as stated I do make great use of the railways as with this week when I shall be traveling to Liverpool on Thursday.

Hello all,

Mine would be Noarlunga Station, Run by the state, and what a cold hole it is. Its about 20 kilometers away, and that's a good thing.

Where I grew up as a kid though was a town on the east coast of New South Wales called Wombarra ( http://www.nswrail.net/locations/photo.php?name=NSW:Wombarra:2 ), Small little station which about 10 trains a day stopped and all the others blasted through in a second. But it was tucked away in between gum trees and scrub, Always loved my home station as a kid.

Heading towards Sydney was an uphill grade and we used to watch railway workers space out detonators to warn and or stop trains. One day we got our hands on some and caught a large freighter coming and brought it to a stand still. I am rather glad we were not caught by the driver...hehe Such memories.

The nearest by miles is Athenry on the main Dublin Galway line. but it is a bad road. it is easier to go to Galway. There are trains between Dublin and Galway, also trains between Galway and limerick on the newly opened line btween Ennis and Athenry. Hopefully the line to my home town of Tuam will be reopened in the next couple of years. All trains operated by IE who also the infrastructure manager.

Nearest to me is Diridon Station, nee Cahill Street Station, in San Jose, CA. Used by CalTrain, Amtrak, ACE, Capital Corridor.

Where I live, we have the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) and Amtrak sharing the through station in downtown Haverhill - about two miles from my house. There's not much to this station, very typical of the commuter stations with little shelter and cold, windy platforms.

A bit farther south east across the Merrimack River, is Bradford depot, which is a smaller version of the Haverhill Station.

My nearest station is in Fargo North Dakota not sure who operates it but it does run Amtrak from the east to the west I was on it about 20 years ago went from Fargo to Seattle Washington took 27 Hours..

Nice! I remember seeing that station about 25 years ago when I did some field service work. I travelled to the area, to fix Intercom Terminals for Walgreens, and stayed at the Best Western on Route 12 - is it? that overlooks, what was then, the CNW Fox River line. During my week there, I got little sleep because I stayed up every night watching the freight and commuter trains going by. One Saturday I did some railfanning and saw that station. It is a really beautiful building, and I'm glad it's still being used for its orginal purpose.

There are many old stations up my way that have become restaurants, and other commercial ventures with the commuters standing on cold platforms outside. There are also some good new ones like the Anderson Regional Transit Center in Woburn on the Concord (Lowell) line. The Downeaster will take the Wildcat branch toward the Haverhill-Reading commuter line, which is the Portland Division of the former B&M. The Wildcat branch was once part of the original Andover and Wilmington, which eventually became the B&M.

Anyway, my nearest station is Belfast Central. Served by NIR (CAF3000s, Class 450 and 80s - all DMUs) and jointly operated NIR/IÉ cross-border Enterprise service (201s/208s hauling de Deitrich stock).

My closest station is at Wauchope, on the North Coast Line. The only passenger service there is six Countrylink trains (three south to Sydney, three north to Grafton, Casino and Brisbane), with exception of excursion trains.

There is a four track freight yard, complete with grain silos and a cement plant/facility. There is an abandoned freight shed and apparently, a turntable. The main freight company servicing Wauchope is Pacific National, and the most common freight locos are the humble NR class, BL class and 81 class.

My nearest station is Dunton Green- 2 tracks, half hourly stopper to London Charing Cross and Sevenoaks. Operated by Southeastern :n: 0.04% above punctuality targets. No surprises there!
Freight-The occasional Nuclear train to Dungeness.

My local station, Garscadden has 4 trains per hour in each direction with 2 an hour each direction on Sundays. Warm, cumfy travel.
