First on this list, this type of loco, the Victorian Railways S class 4-6-2. However, this photos has the wrong number, would prefer #301...

Followed by this variation of the S class. S301 was the only loco seen like this, after it hit a car of all things.

Followed by this K class loco: K103.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but PRR E6s #7002 did 127.1 at Crestline, Ohio in 1905, but the record isn't official due to the Pennsy's lack of speedometers on their trains. There are also many apocryphal stories of T1s doing 150mph on the Pennsy.

I still say that Mallard is the worlds fastest steam loco, for the simple fact that it is proven in dynamometer car scrolls. If their is no scientific record of a loco going Xmph then it can't count as a record, and also some bloke counting mile posts with a stop watch doesn't count either.

Well, for starters I like the engines at my museum: Atlanta & West Point 290, Savannah & Atlanta 750, Chattahoochee Valley 21, Gainesville Midland 203, Southern 1509, Georgia Power 97, Campbell Limestone 9, NCR Dayton, and Red River & Gulf 104. (note: 104 hasn't been moved to our site yet)

Beyond that, I like TVRM's 610, SR 4501, D&RGW C-16s, D&RGW T-12 4-6-0s, D&RGW M-68 4-8-4s, D&RGW C-48 2-8-0s, Atlanta Birmingham & Coast 200 class 2-8-2s, SR Ps-4 4-6-2s, MP P-73 4-6-2s, SLSF 4200 2-8-2s, SLSF russian 2-10-0s, Georgia Railroad 4-6-0s, and ACL R-1 4-8-4s.
