You are now entering The Retro Railroading zone....

Purveyor of the Forgotten
The scene opens with a non-descript office with a desk and chair being the focal point.

A Nattily dressed man with 1940s-50s garb enters the scene, sits on the edge of a desk, lights up his cigarette, and begins to speak...

"Joe Trainzer has just finished posting his latest thread foaming about GEVOS, CSX, BNSF, NS and fictional Class I railroad branches. Poor Joe has no idea how grand railroading was in the past, before modern days wiped out some of the greatest railroads in the world.

"What Joe Trainzer did not know was that a freak thunderstorm produces a bolt of lightning that strikes the power line outside his home."

"The electrical surge strikes our hapless Trainzer, transporting him in time and space...."

"You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Retro Railroading Zone!"

**Note To those who have the correct plugins to download the movies, the software to merge parts 1 and 2s, and the ability to make MPG or WMV files out of these, you are going to be busy. BTW I found all of these in about an hour

I've watched quite a few of these. The old New Haven one is fascinating because it shows the car shops and the old coal piles. This all disappeared before I came on the scene. I used to see many of the electric freight motors though when we'd drive to New York City from Massachusetts. I loved it when we'd get to New Haven and the electric service began because the New York Thruway followed the New Haven mainline, which is now part of the NEC.

On the DD40 video, it has a cab ride over Sherman Hill, and at 17 minutes, check out 3 dd40s pulling cattle cars!

Also at the end see the 6900s with SD60 demos in a consist...

It is indeed fascinating to see what used to be and see it on film.

i have an aero train video on the pittline that a friend gave me, and a video from a cab ride in the late fifty's on the Pitt line from Pittsburgh to Altoona and back including a winter and summer ride, ill post them as soon as i get permission.
plus godfatherrails.com is a great place for PRR pics in the late 40's and early to mid 50's
