XP to Win 7 with SSD

Get over it
I don't want to screw this up when I switch over so I'm asking your advice here. Transfering files should be no problem. I think I read somewhere on this forum that all you have to do is move the TRS12 folder to the dedicated SSD and you should be good to go. Your thoughts, suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated.

Mine was win 7 only and the same computer, I just copied and pasted and put a new launcher on the desktop.
The other option is a new 2012 install on the ssd and import a copy of your user data local folder ( I think) which you will have saved to an external drive or similar.
Patch up to date also.

haha,
well I just opened my eyes and was not at my computer but my tablet in bed...... pop pop

Clean TS12 install and before that clean/dust off your disk but since you have SSD that is 2 minutes.
After fresh install take the userdata folder you saved or still have from the old TS12 you have on i guess your old HHD disk right?
In the userdata you can choose which folders you like to keep and copy but the local folder is the one you need to keep for sure as this is the one with your routes data and stuff you created. Settings is one too but not sure you already tweaked things.

That is all to it as far as i remember......

have a good week my friend1

PS i hope for you your win 7 is 64 bit as this for trainz gives you 4 gb cach instead of 2 gb... and other bonus.... for sure much better than XP.

Thanks Roy. A clean install it will be. I will then copy the userdata folder and the local folder and paste them in the SSD. I have backups on an external drive so I think I'm good to go. Yes, I got the 64 bit Windows. I also got 16MB RAM. May be overkill for now but memory is cheap at this time.

don't forget to patch up your build .

Hang on, if you have reinstalled, you need to import the local and original folder, or just the Userdata folder which contains both, just copying it is a bad idea, a few on here have regretted it and you will probably need to run a few EDR's to sort out the mess if it can be. Copying folders went out with 2009 SP4 onwards.
Import using the import function in CM. Copying only reliably works if you copy the whole Trainz install and overwrite the complete new install.

Repeat your data is in the Local and Original folders, if you don't import both a lot of your stuff will be missing.

Thanks for the heads up advice. This is why I started this thread, to avoid problems others have made. I'll remember to import the Userdata file and to patch. Thanks again.

another nice tool is game booster from Razer.... You can set and tweak straight forward and boost your system to get most out of it and it auto stop your anti virus etc... dl this
