Hey Everyone, it's been a while since I've been on here. I finally got my computer back up and running. It's been a crazy 2 years. :)

I'm still working on my 'HBH Around The Bend'. Just started up Phase 2 'The Countryside''

My question is this. I'm going to be purchasing a new gaming computer in a few months, once I get enough money saved up, and what I would like to know is should I buy the 2019 version, or should I buy the new 2022 version. Just checking to see if there are any issues with one, that I should purchase the other?

I see the 2019 for $49.99 with the platinum content pack, which looks like a nice deal?

Thanks

Welcome back Sir,

Looking at your time line, it shows you using TS12, so jumping to TRS2019 Platinum, which is what I upgraded to after initially using TRS2019, that would bypass TANE, which could not handle larger Routes and was the main reason, I jumped to 2019 Trainz when it came out, about a year and half later, as I waited for the Bugs to get out of it. I try to do that with any new version be it Trainz or Windows.......

My vote would be TRS19 Platinum, I haven't upgraded to 22 yet, because it so new, and there are some Bugs to work out, not unusual, and I am using a 4 yr old Laptop with 1050 GTI NVIDIA, 32 Gigs of Ram, dual SSD 2-Terabyte drives. Win 11, so far so good, but I need a 6 Gig Card instead of this 4 Gig, but that means new Laptop, because they Solder them in, and it would need a larger Battery too.......

There are several more learned members here that might weigh in on the option of TRS2019 vs TRS2022.......Too help you out.....

Welcome back.

Your post did not mention if your computer has been replaced with a newer updated machine or if it is your old computer that is now "back up and running". My only advice is that TRS19 and TRS22 are 64 bit programs and require a 64 bit CPU, while TS12 and earlier are 32 bit programs.

I'm the same way Blue. I wait a while to see if there are bugs to fix. I think I'll probably go with the 2019, since many are using it now.

I will be getting a new gaming computer for TRS19, and on-line racing. The ones I'm looking at are desktops, and they are loaded. I'm looking to spent about $1,000 to $1,200.

Let me know if there are any name brands to stay away from as well. :)

HillBillyHobo,

Here is what I was able to scare up for ya........Hope this helps a bit. I would suggest checking out which is better CPU Intel or Ryzen.....There a heated competition between the two.

Big help Blue, Thanks! :)

Definitely want to go AMD Ryzen, probably 5.

Definitely RTX, probably the 3060 model.

At least 16GB ram, with upgrade.

I would also want windows 10, as it seems every other windows is a flop. (unless I'm missing something?)

It appears I need to save a bit more as these setups are running around the $1,500 + area.

Definitely want to go AMD Ryzen, probably 5. Excellent Choice!

Definitely RTX, probably the 3060 model. Much better than 20 Series, and my old Dinosaur Care 1050Gti NVIDIA

At least 16GB ram, with upgrade. Try and see if it can upgrade to 32 RAM, That is best for Windows and Trainz, based on my experience.
That way later on, you pop out the 16 and switch up to 32....Doesn't mean you have too, just gives you the Option! ;)

You ain't missing a thing HillBillyHobo, 11 is new and not everybody is flocking to it, some do not like it at all!

All that glitters as they say, may not be Gold....:hehe:

Sound really good for 1500$.......

Thanks for all the help everyone. :)

I love to create layouts. It takes me back to when I was young, except now I don't need to go down to the hobby shop every weekend to buy new items for my big layout at home. It's all on the computer. lol

Can't wait to see all the new things to use in TRS19 Platinum. I will definitely be creating a new, and different 'Around The Bend'.

I'm working on Phase 2 of (HBH Around The Bend 'The Countryside') on my TRS12 until I get the new computer. I still use Phase 1 'The Serenity Route' to help me fall asleep. I hope all have enjoyed it? I have learned a lot since that build. I'm studying up on the light signals right now, so I can place them properly on my layout.

Thanks once again Everyone for your input. :)

A site to look at for price comparisons:

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/pricedrop/

Video cards still much beyond reasonable due to alleged parts shortage.

Alleged, yup, just like some other Alleged Shortages.......I hear that........I'm an Old u know what, and we called it Price Gouging in younger days, or what is that famous saying?

THE LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND or WHATEVER THE MARKET WILL BARE............:o

Seen this Story before........:(

Now back to our regular programming schedule......

UPDATE for April 12th, 2022

Just in case you get NVIDIA Card, I think that is what showed, here is the latest info on my older Card that gets updated more or less Monthly,,,,This below info might be of use to you?

What’s new in GeForce Experience 3.25

GeForce Experience now supports Battery Boost 2.0, which extends battery life while gaming by finding the optimal balance of GPU and CPU power usage, battery discharge, image quality, and frame rates. Battery Boost 2.0 has been totally re-architected, using AI to control the whole platform, all in real time. The result is great playability on battery, with up to 70% more battery life. This feature is supported on new laptops with 4th generation Max-Q Technologies

Reflex Analyzer Automatic Configuration

Reflex Analyzer now automatically configures itself - making latency measurement a 1-click experience and incredibly easy to use. All gamers have to do is plug their mouse into the Reflex USB port on their Reflex monitor and hit Alt + R. Gamers can switch weapons, use weapons without muzzle flashes, and measure latency while they play the game.
The Reflex Analyzer flash indicator is now controlled by GeForce Experience and shown when the performance overlay is enabled. Gamers with a Reflex Mouse can measure full end to end system latency measurements while gamers without a Reflex Mouse can still measure PC + Display Latency.
To use automatic configuration on your Reflex Analyzer display in a supported Reflex game like RIOT’s Valorant, install the latest game ready driver, and jump in!

Support for Discord Social Login

Discord is now supported as a convenient new account creation and login option for GeForce Experience.

Support for Video Capture for GPU upscaling

GeForce Experience now supports video capture for NVIDIA resolution scaling features like DSR, DLDSR, and NVIDIA Image Sharpening.

Optimal settings support added for 25 new games!

I am hoping some day, Trainz might be in the Camp of 25 Games that is supported more directly than Generally as it is now. Since Rail Simulator take a ton of Graphics Muscle to Shine when it comes to Rendering and Physics in Motion......
