World Of Trainz sound issue

If I could get a hold of phil I would not be posting this but apparently my e-mails never reach him. Here is my problem. when I am using any train by phil the trains engine sound cut out or gets really quiet. I have used other trains not by phil and the problem does not happen. I am using Trs2006 Sp1. Can any one help?

2006 SP1 has this problem endemically, it usually does not just affect Phil's engines. A dedicated sound card and reducing your hardware acceleration to 3/4 or less seems to help.

How do you know if you have a dedicated sound card? I changed to 3/4 and that did not help.

Keep adjusting the sound hardware acceleration, and if you have not added a sound card to your PC, you are using the default sound in the chip.

The Realtek is in your motherboard. A dedicated sound card is a card like a graphics card that you add to your PC aftermarket.

The sound thing say realtek HD Audio. My computer is newer than 2006 so its not that.

It uses cpu cycles to do sound so if you purchase a sound card doesn't matter which one you'll off load the cpu a little plus have reasonable sound. They aren't that expensive.

Never could get the sound to work in 2006 SP1 with a sound card and 3/4 setting on acceleration setting. Once I got more than about 5 or 6 trains running at a time the sound was miserable, so bad I went back to 2004.

For me at least, the sound has been fixed in 2009.

woah...wait...could it be...?

 I have experienced the same sound drop-out in idle with GE locomotives...

Phil_C is using the latest sound file(by trw1089) as noted on his specifications page for each locomotive, except he uses a different idle sound to allow for the start-up/shut-down enginesound file that is his proprietary content.

I there may be defects somewhere in the config of this file...no problem, there are other items missing & the locomotive runs & responds none the less. Like this one, I am awaiting upgrades to the content to TS2009 as soon as the game stops going into beta upgrades.

I go into the file & delete the sound-script entries & replace the default enginesound with the General Electric 7FDL-12 enginesound by trw1089 kuid:126323:53056 (TRS2004) on the Download Station...it's the same enginesound but without the added idle sound for the said app.

You may get errors about a missing sound/script but the motor will run, & have idle sound to boot.

I have a nvidia graphics card.

Back to basics, your computer isn't fast enough to do everything you want to do. So you can either purchase a new high gaming computer or you can off load the sound processing from the cpu onto its own processor. That is what a sound card has, its own processor dedicated for sound.

Newegg.com has a
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy for $35.

This maybe cheaper than a new computer.

Some motherboards notably ASUS have a sound processor rather than a sound chip on the motherboard.

You will need to install drivers with the new card, and let Windows know you wish to use the sound card rather than the motherboard for sound. You can do this in the control panel. This task is not complex my father managed it with no computer background aged 75.

Buying a new gaming computer with a preinstalled sound card is simpler its just more expensive.

Hi backyard,
Can you please tell me where to find the sound/script files for a steam loco in TS2009? In the loco script there are two lines that give a clue, they are "include trainz.gs" and "include locomotive.gs" but I can't find either of these files.

Thanks,
Bill69.

Ok. I have found them in the TS2009\script directory.

Thanks,
Bill69

...two different birds...

 I was refering specifically to the "enginesound" kind/asset entry in gxp53ta400's question.

I haven't a clue about the steam sound configurations...there is another thread on the Forums here...
