won't save map

I have been working on the Mojave map now for 2 weeks setting up industries track and shops. Everytime I go to reload the map and start up, parts are gone. I thought that I was saving something wrong or working in the wrong layer. Last night the last thing I did was put auto horn commands on the track. I also had painted a couple of places on the map with cement color. This morning the roundhouse and service facilites were gone, Parts of the track I laid were gone. Not all of it just after a certain time it stopped saving it. I thought that I did it again. However the horn signals were where I put them the places I painted were painted the way I had done them. Yesterday I was able to recover the map from the content manager, not today.
Another thing I noticed is that the cement factory in the center of the map I will set up to take limestone and it will produce cement. It works till the next morning even in saved in progress sessions were it had worked.
Tonight I redid my work for the 5th time (trust me the computer is getting close to flying lessons) I saved the map under "downtime" for a session. I closed the program and reopened it. Opened Downtime and everything was lost again. Searching I found the latest copy under AUTOSAVE. I went in and tried saving to downtime no luck. I tried resaving the map under the title "steal this" Won't save it no matter what name I give it. Either opening and saving under routes or going into sessions under autosave and there it is in defaults. Any help would be great before I have to up my blood pressure medicine

A couple of questions.
(1)Are you working in the route session?
(2) when you exit dose it ask you to save,If so do you save route and save new session?
Working in edit Route you can lay track, put in INDs/Stations set them up,put in buildings name them, & landscaping. Rolling stock, rules, driver commands & setting up AI commands in edit session while in surveyor.
Hope this help a little.
Exiting when editing route session you must tick the button that ask do not save session.

danny5 has said it. You open the map do some work save and some of it is gone. You have saved the work in map and session but you only open map when you return. Everthing that was saved into the session will not be there. When you do work in surveyor always use the edit session not edit route to open it. I always check befoe I close my edited route which layer Im in and will normaly merge the session layer into the route layer so that everthing that should be on the route layer is there.

To answer your questions 1. I am in route and 2 I tried saving it tothe route downtime. Which is the name of the route. No matter what I named the route it said it saved, but then when I look it didnt save it. It only exists in route Autosave and under that in session as default.

OK I fired up the computer again to repeat what I had done before. This time when I saved it, it actually took 20 seconds to save it and not instantly return to the map so I could continue to edit. Now I have a route called downtime 2. I am befuddled as to why it worked now and not before when I had rebooted the computer and the program to see if that was my problem. Well Monday is just around the corner.

Usually, there are three reasons why it may not save properly:

1.Making changes in the session layer and not merging before saving.
2.Not running Trainz as administrator in Windows Vista,7, or 8.
3.Antivirus software not set to ignore the Trainz folder.
