WMS servers besides Terraserver

Are there any other WMS servers for the US besides Terraserver? Because I'm trying to do Chattanooga-Knoxville (the NS line) and half of Knoxville is white like the map image isn't there. I was using a tiled topo map. Is there any site that can generate a regular street map (not topo or satellite) for you through TransDem WMS? The topo map is useless to me if half of Knoxville is blank. Why is part of it blank? Does that mean that the map data isn't available at that point? I checked Terraserver USA site itself and Knoxville is there, all of it. I also would like to do the NS line from Chattanooga to Atlanta as well and the TVRM route to Summerville, GA as well. Can someone help me with finding an error-free map source? Thanks. I also need a map source that shows roads, rail lines, rivers. It can be a plain street map.

You are crossing the 84th meridian in the western suburbs of Knoxville. This takes you from UTM zone 16 to zone 17. TerraServer has organised its map images in UTM zones. Coordinates exceeding zone boundaries will yield blank results.

And, since the TransDEM native coordinate system is UTM too, we are facing a cross-zone scenario here. Fortunately, TransDEM has built-in functionality to deal with this issue.

Follow this tutorial for details: http://forum.uktrainz.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=131&t=5382#p87476

In an addition to the tutorial, you can apply the new "transparent margin" function in TransDEM 2.0 to deal with remaining white space.

Yes, that's the official TransDEM support forum and it requires registration. The forum is hosted by UKTrainz and it's their policy.

I registered but I haven't received the confirmation email yet. I thought confirmation emails usually get sent immediately. Guess I'll have to wait to recieve the email to be able to read it.
