Not your father's Cadillac... well this area is all gone now.
This is part of the south end of my route representing the GTW Mt Clemens Sub. In this images the GTW, C&O (Pere Marq.), N&W (Wabash), & Michigan Central (NYC, Conrail) all had trackage. This area was "West Detroit" and was an interlocking controlled by the MC / NYC. The above yard was West Detroit yard where C&O, Wabash (N&W), and Grand Trunk Western interchanged. This area right of the W. Detroit yard was the Cadillac Main Plant. NYC sold property to Cadillac so they could build the plant there. In turn, the NYC had the privileged of being the only RR to serve them.
The four track main from the bottom to the upper right was the main line to Bay City Jct. and further down to where the Michigan Central Depot is in Detroit (no TS 12 model exists of this... any takers?). The branch line to Bay City will be modeled in part to North Yard then again at Rochester, MI.
The GTW line parallels the NYC / MC Bay City Branch up to Forrest Lawn. 54.32 miles from West Detroit to Tappan, Mi was measured in Google earth and I have 54 in TS 12! Pretty close with out using DEMs. In the image above there was another track where the GT loco was crossing. I did omit some tracks here and there on the route, but for the most part it is very accurate for what once existed years ago.
This will take me some time to complete. I hope to see some more GTW locos done... GP-40 or 38 anyone?
