Hi all

WIth not many details of what your exact problem is. I will give it a go anyway :)

Did you right-click the icon and "Run as Administrator", it cant hurt.

If you search the forums for vista you may find other things to try.

Good luck,
Lenny

ok got it working but now can't D/L anything.

I get the following error message;

Unable to register Trainz URL registry key.

I get this message three times, press OK each time and CMP should be usable.

The third message gets hidden behind CMP window.

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago and someone responded with a good try at helping me. But even with running some of the exe files as administrator, I got the same results as everyone else. I am able to run the program under Vista, but it doesn't save the sessions I modified or added.

I've been adding new sessions by running Trainz on an XP Home computer. After making and saving the changes to that computer, I burn a DVD of the modified Auran program folder. Then I delete the program folder on the Vista computer and copy the revised Auran folder to C:\Program Files. Kind of a long way around, but it works.

Hope this helps.

Make sure your CMP - Files - Settings - Internet setting for Username and Password are correct. Open your Profile here and delete then re-enter your password. Works for some.

Firstly please check you have administration rights on all of the .exe files, as winterpaw suggested above. This is very important.

I assume you are starting TRS2006 from a desktop icon? If you are right click on it, select properties, then compatibility tab. Check box for "run this program in compatability mode for:"

and then select Windows XP Service Pack 2, in the drop down below.

All of these problems and more

Hello I am new to this program and am having all of the same problems and they have gotten worse. I have tryed all of the above except "Just disable UAC, problem solved." I do not know what it is or how to disable it. I have tryed reinstalling it sevral time even (deleting my content). I also had a problem (when it did work better) of it not working in Paintshead mode and CMP goes Not Responding mode :(

Last time I uninstalled I also did a reg clean before reinstalling TRS2006. Note: It worked normally (much slower) on the old XP machine!

Any new ideas? In the short time I have had it I do love this but if I can not create anything then I may end up just giving up on it!

Hello

After you have installed TRS2006 as a administrator on Microsoft Windows Vista:

Right Click the following files in the TRS2006 Directory below and select compatibility tab and tick the small square box ----> Run this program as an Administrator.

TRS2006.exe
ContentManager
CCP
Launcher
Trainz
TrainzDiag
openGLextensions
gsc
gse
TrainzUtil

Tranz is now on the XP machine

I gave up on playing Tranz on the vista machine I have put it on the XP machine. My only other choise was to place it in the real life round file.

I spent a full day trying everything vista would let me and things just got worse.

Because it is on that computer I will not do as much as I could have with the newer machine.

Thanks to all that help on the fourms. Like many games sometimes the best help is from other players!

If you follow the instructions to the 't' that were given, it will work...I have had 2006 on my Vista machine for a year and never had a problem, including CMP...all works fine

Vista will not let me follow them to a t

I was logged in the original user account when doing all of this.

Vista will not let me select "Run as an Administrator" to any .exe in Prefrences under the Compatablity tab Security says full control for everything.

I even installed TRS 2006 onto an extrenal hard drive using the XP machine. It works perfectly on that machine. I plug it into the vista machine and CMP does not even show any tabs at all just Current Search. It used to but now no matter where I install it it CMP does not even work.

It just is not worth the stress to fight Vista anymore!

Someone once told me "When a game becomes work and is more stresfull than work. It is no longer a game!"

Update It does work well sort of!

I spent all day yesterday figting vista to get CMP to work. I finally gave up and just put it on the XP machine.

Well today I had to get on another desktop to look for a file there. I found it and moved it. Before I logged off that desktop I spoted the Traninz2006 icon so I clicked it. Not only did CMP open will ALL of it's tabs. It did so without the 3 Errors about URL key I get on my desktop.

It seems that the keys that cause the errors are stored in the user data part of the regestry. If you go to another desktop (This one has administrator rights also) It works for the most part.

Not sure if this idea helped or not but I do have it installed to C:\TRS2006\ but it will stay there. Thank you for that idea.

Now everything does work except for the paintshed utility. Yesterday I was reading somewhere in the forums that there is a tutorial on how to use PSP (or other graphics programs). I have looked for this and have not found it. If someone has the link to it or can give me tips on how to do this I beleve I can do most everything on my Vista machine. I just have to switch user to use trains. This is an aceptable way to get to use it on a machine that can really handle this program.

Again Thanks for any help you can give me.
