windows 7

I just purchased a new pc with windows 7 on it trainz 2009 runs ok but will not allow me into content manager at all and will not open when you click on the link on the download station got no idea whats going on any help would be good thanks

I can say that you shouldn't have any problems with Windows 7. Trainz 2006 and 2009 will run fine under it. In fact there will be better performance overall due to the optimization done with this release over Vista.

I agree with the other guys here. The biggest thing will be drivers, however, NVida and ATI should offer current drivers. I know defintely that NVidia does, but since I don't own an ATI card, I can't tell you for fact on those.

Run CMP and Trainz with Administrator rights.

Right-click on the shortcut.

Choose the properties.

Compatibility TAB

Check Run as Administrator.

The program may or may not ask you for permission to run. You can turn this off on the control panel - an added feature over Vista.

I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7. I can't get TRS 2006, SP1 to run at all. If I don't install SP1 I can run 2006 but can not save any new routes that I create. With SP1 installed I get errors leading me to believe that there is a DLL missing. Has anyone had that problem? Is there a cure. I really mis my TRAINZ app.

I read that if you have Windows Vista, that you will not gain alot, for the $120.00 that you pay to re-install Windows 7 on an old PC.

If you have windows XP, an upgrade to windows 7 will do a complete OS re-install, and putting the old programs into windows 7 will be difficult and entailed to do. A very old machine may not be compatable, as it is slow.

Windows 7 is meant for brand new PC's, where you will see the most improvement.

BTW Trainz runs perfectly well on my Vista Desktop PC 3gb, 500mb HD, Nividia7800 Video Card

It also works fairly well on my GF 1gb Vista laptop, that has a factory video card.

You can try to polish a barney, but in the end you will only have a nice shiney barney !

Sorry for saying i got windows 7 and having a same problem my trainz 2009 installs ok the service pack 1 das not and i just need help please thanx Matthew

I like to say i found the problem so download the patches manual and do not let Trainz download it because it would not install so the best bet is to install them when you download them.

The trick to found out what patch it is. Is to let trainz give u the patch number when you can cancel the download and look up the exe of it to do following above

Actually on back to back fresh installs of Vista/SP2 64 and Windows 7 64 I haven’t seen any real performance difference between the two operating systems with the 15 or so sim/games I use.

It can be turned off with Vista also.
