I hopeyou know Windows 7 will stop working, I think about March 2010, and when you install one you will have to buy you will have to rebuild the whole system.

you can just buy a license without reinstalling. you even get an authenticity card in the mail

no you wont that is silly. i just got the beta to test and i read the documentation close as possible. it says you will have to buy it or reinstall your old OS. installing the old OS means wiping the drive and starting over. thats what it means by rebuild. its not like you have to get a new computer. dont spread this kind of junk around, this is how vista became so scary to everyone when it works just fine.

Windows 7 Release Candidate: (RC). How to back up a PC - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/pc-backup.aspx

Bill69's right. When you install the final version of Windows 7, you'll need to do a clean new install. (Re-format C:\ drive). So plan on backing up your data then reinstalling your applications and restoring your data. ---***--- 99% of ya probably already regularly backup your Trainz's "local" folder anyway !!!! - (onto another partition or external drive & or you have Trainz's installed on either D:\ E:\ or F:\ drive, rather than C:\ drive) !!!!!!! :eek:

Note;
There is a difference between Beta & RC. (Beta is now freely available to all to try & to get RC, you have to register with MS to be able to download). The Beta version expires 01/08/2009 & the RC version/s start expiring 01/03/2010. (as Bill69 mentions above). Final "expire date" for all RC Ver's is no later than 01/06/2010...
:o
Cheers, Mac... ;)

I did not say anything about getting a new computer. You will need to buy a new version of Windows 7. That's not rubbish.

come on guys lets not fight... If it was not for people like the first poster MS would be selling us a pritty much untested bit of software. And we would all suffer... How each member of the forum chooses to look after their PC and the software they have on it is really up to each individual member

All I can say is that I have been using windows 7 for a while now (first the beta, and now the RC), and it is great! Really stable, no problems other than some minor niggles, and trainz runs great on it!

SO Win 7 seams to take an age to load a route,,,, Sure clicking new and playing is fine. But actually loading a good big layout takes an age. How do you all find that

I haven't noticed. What route, and what kind of loading time are you getting?

I have been using TRS2004 on 64-bit Windows 7 RC for a few weeks and the performance is better under 64-bit Windows 7 RC than under 32-bit Windows XP Pro with SP3 on my computer with Intel I7 920 CPU, ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard, and XFX Geforce 9800 GT card with 512MB of video memory. I just upgraded my computer from 3GB to 6GB of system memory.

Hello Jeff and every one that is on Microsoft today said that Windows 7 will be out in the US in the fall. I would say the start to look at it will be soon say 1 month Mario:) .

Also been using 64 bit Win7 for a while but running 2009, 4GB of ram, AMD 64 X2 Dual core 5200+, GeForce 8500 GT with 1GB, Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-53G and it is far superior performance than XP which to be honest was pretty good.

No problems with loading times, it is far quicker than with XP SP3, no stuttering I was getting on XP either. :D

I my point of view, the Vista is really worst, however, some of fds hv tested the RC version and they say win 7 is much better than vista. So take it easy, win 7 will be better than vista.....(hopefully)
