Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit

Thinking about purchasing Trainz 2012. Wondering how it will work on my PC operating with windows 7 ultimate 64 bit? PC specs: Dell Precision T5400, dual quad core 2.5 ghz processors, 16 Gb ECC Ram, NVidia GT 640 Video Card w/ 2 Gb of memory, 15K RPM HDD, directX 11

BTW am a newbie at train sims. Appreciate any tips & tweaks advice.

I use the same operating system with no problems whatsoever. Your hardware is at least as good as mine, (I have a much faster processor) but do yourself a favor: Change the HDD for a SSD. You'll be very glad you did. My route of about 10 Gb loads in seconds.

I am using WIN7 Ultimate-64 bit with 12GB of RAM and Intel I7 @ 3.4 GHz. MSI/AMD 6670 and DirectX. TRS12 (unpatched) is blazing fast with no stutters. However, I did install TRS12 outside of the default (Program) directory which helps a lot. No SSD here. NOTE: Open GL gives me slightly better (and slower) graphics, but for some reason crashes with the dreaded "Trains has stopped working message".

Thanks. I do have an empty 80GB SSD that I could install TS12 into. Planning on getting a 240 GB SSD in the near future.

I did install my TS12 on an SSD and it make a lot of difference you will not regret it!

If you are going to 240Gb SSD, get a Samsung 840 Pro. On this date is fastest in the World (unless you use raid 0..) I have one and really, nothing beats it. Another improvement could be using very high speed RAM, but for that you need a new Mobo with I 7 quad processor. I use MSI Z77A Mobo. Trainz runs as if a movie, no stutters. Warning: all this could get pricey...
