Wind Turbine problem

Hello, I have made a wind turbine for my Lappa Valley Steam Railway out of Tommylommykins 2 bladed turbine but I have a problem.

The blades turn above the nose. I think it is something to do with the animation.

Can anyone put me in the right direction to fix this?

You haven't explained how you made it. Gmax? Kit-bash? Might have something to do with attachment points. More info would be helpful.

It's hard to tell, but it appears that you're b.r.main might be in the wrong position or your attachment point, if the blades and animation are a separate mesh, is in the wrong position.

Sounds like that to me looking at the pics b.r.main should be at 0.0.0.

Hi sorry I haven't made any more progress, I have been experiencing problems with the computer so I am at the moment using the old one.

I have managed to bring up an older version of the turbine I made last year.



The Br.main is at 0.0 on x, y and z and I can't see an attachment point.

Could anyone help me?

You should be able to select the b.r.main in the select list and then identify what it's position is. Also, did you create the b.r.main in top view? This is important for animations. If you can't figure it out, you can send me the gmax file and I can see if there's any obvious problem. I would still suspect that there is a b.r.main point problem.

Hi Leefar,

I am posting now to say I have fixed the problem, I exported both b.r.main and b.r.blades into anim.kin.

But I have to wait for the other computer to be fixed before I can do it on the the newer turbine.

I have also got a couple more turbines coming up when I have finished them.

From left to right.

Two bladed turbine (edited version of Tommylommykins turbine and I will ask his permission to release it)

Two bladed turbine static,

Siemans Combi MKII Wind Turbine (based on the one at Four Burrows and with custom blade)

Vestas Windane 34 Wind Turbine (Still not fixed)

Vestas Windane 34 Wind Turbine Static.

The other computer should be fixed sometime next week hopefully.

Hi, the computer got fixed this week and I have been able to fix the turbine.

I have now uploaded the turbine + the static to the DLS.

Being from southwest Kansas, United States, I am quite familiar with seeing the wind turbines. Installed them on the route I am working on and must say...GREAT JOB! Ralph
