Why do people use the blogs section like a forum.

might be back?
I went to the blogs section for the first time today, expecting to read about people's route progress, or other things like that. Instead all I have been finding are people asking questions, like where to find a road, like they are on the forums section. That isn't the purpose of the blog section as far as I am aware. I know that this forum is kinda carebeary in certain aspects, but I think that it is time for a purge of all of these "blogs" that aren't actual blogs, that way people could use it for creating interest in their route building progress and show WIP's, rather than it just being a sewer of Sh*tposting like it is now.

I've noticed that as well. However, certain blogs (including mine) are not used for the purpose of route updates or similar.

Yeah, but your blogs are, well, blogs. I am seeing a lot of things like "I am looking for a road" that should be purged.

Agreed. I've had to comment on quite a few of the blog posts you mention advising them to post on the forums instead.

Well I've just poked my nose into the Blogs section via the tab at the top of the Forum, for the first time.

I've looked at various ad hoc blog posts before, whilst browsing through the Who's Online section, but never via the main point of entry.

There are 147 pages of blogs as of today! I'm sure that there are some great nuggets of information amongst all of the posts contained within all of those pages, but where does anyone find the time to go through it all?

I won't be bothering.

It's difficult enough to keep up with the main Forum.

"Why do people use the blog section as a forum?"

Simple...

There's absolutely no moderation on the blogs...

It would be the same reason certain prolific posters use the forum section like social media perchance? Endless pointless threads, posts within threads several times an hour, ubiquitous 'emoticon' on the thread title. While ignore helps, hide would be better.

"...Why do people use the blogs section like a forum..."

Because they don't know any better.

Ask yourself, where do new members (and not so new members) find a brief explanation that in simple terms describes the difference between a blog and a forum and what to post in each.
