Why, Auran?

RRSignal

Maybe i'm wrong, and i admit it, but after 3 weeks of this program i use 2/3 of my time to try update..... and when i try.... server is full..... heyy i've payd for it....

...and you get what you pay for.

You have free DLS access, but you are competing with thousands of other users for what is otherwise a premium service, just like you would with Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc.

I bought a 6 month FCT on the first of the month.

That didn't stop me from buying a one year ticket at the sale price.

Nothing says you have to activate it today.
Right! I'm going to buy the 1yr at reduced price, and just wait until Aug when my current one expires. I don't think there is an expiry date on un-activated tickets.
Came out to $20.57 USD, so I save $5.00 if the price is back to $25AUD by August. If it's higher, then I save more. It's kind of like buying a Call on the stock market...
Just hope that N3V doesn't go away before I get to use this new FCT!

Please.... be serious.... i have a lot of other games, and i never be in the end of the line, if you see the complains in here maybe you would understand what i'm talking about, in rapidshare and all other stuff we find the freeway to the same game, and all the other people who don't pay for it find it for free.... so why should i pay for it.... maybe Auran can answer this, becouse i cant see whats help me with your answer....

PS! I payd for this game because i wanted a serious game, not a pay portal for somebody.......

Again, you paid for the game. You get free access to the DLS. Auran is using the exact same business model Rapidshare, Hotfile, etc. use. You're getting free service, but nobody said it top-shelf. I'm not sure where you are going with "all the other people who don't pay for it find it for free". Do you mean piracy?

Again, Auran should just get rid of free DLS access altogether. It's just not worth the headache and hassle. Perhaps they should give free, first-class DLS access for the first three months after a new registration and be done with it.

I understand this, but still. Makes me a bit livid is all since the normal year is something outrageous like $60-$70.

I don't know what you are looking at but a 1 year FCT has cost 20 bux or so (with exchange rate) for over 3 years now I have never paid more than I think $22.00

Not much more. The one I purchased last Aug cost me $25 AUD. This one I purchased today cost me $19.95AUD, or $20.57 USD.

Not a bad deal, IMO. Everyone seems to think that everything should be free. Trainz (TS2010) only cost me about $29 USD because I had a voucher (and I expect to get one for the next version as well), so buying an FCT for $20 puts total cost at about $50 USD. I can't find anything that comes close to the entertainment value that TS has given me for that amount of cash!

I only wish that my health insurance gave me that much for my money :(

i can't use multiplayer (can't download my assets), i can't build my own place (asset's still cant download),

If you are having a problem patching to 44088 then let us know what your current build number is and we will provide you with a link for the appropriate patch/service pack... We can also provide a link for the multi-player patch. (note; if you apply the multi-player patch to TS2010 you with loose "compatibility mode")...

Patching to be able to play MP has nothing to do with the DLS or CMP. (I assume the service packs/patches come from a separate server). - Downloading addition Multi-player routes and any additional DLS content those routes hold/use does !!!
What some people here are trying to politely say to you is if you are to tight to spend $20 Aussie per annum (less than 6 cents a day) to buy a FCT, then you will just have to take your chances like the rest of the "T.A's" as to whether the "free server" is overloaded or not. If it is, all I can suggest you do is you keep trying, & trying, & trying until a slot becomes available... - (spending the equivalent of less than 6 cents a day seems a pretty cheap way of solving the problem)...

With the "free service" you get what you pay for... :hehe:

Cheers, Mac...

Not to sure what you mean by "policy". The cost of TS2010 is pretty cheap in IMHO at $39.95 AUD. (last week I brought a new "First Person Shooter" game for my nephews birthday and that was over 100 bucks). So the way I see it, spending another $20/$25 over and above the $39.95 to get a premium service is still really cheap !!! Especially seeing there's over 100,000+ items on the DLS. (a lot of which is currently getting updated to 2010 "native mode" spec's)...

As you already know, N3V does offer a "free download" server that has the 100 mb daily limit and the "dial up" download speeds, with the same truck load of content that can be downloaded with the premium service...
N3V would probably be the first to admit that they have had some problems in recent times because of the unprecedented demands on the "free" server.

Bandwidth isn't cheap, and whilst N3V have obviously significantly increased the "free" servers bandwidth, at times it's still struggling to cope with the the very high demands...

A little patience and perseverance can go a long way in life... What's free is "free" and if we want something better, then we often have to be prepared to pay for it. - Isn't that the way of the world ???

Happy Trainzing...

Cheers, Mac...

I look at it this way. This is kind of like the new automatic toll system we have on some of the interstate highways and other toll roads. If you purchase an "Easy Pass" as it's called in Massachusetts, you can purchase toll access in "bulk" and save some money per toll as well as time going through the toll booths as well because there's no need to stop.

Now because I don't have one of the transponders because I don't drive very many toll roads often enough to justify the purchase of the transponder and the subscription. Instead I have to pay my tolls as a I go. This is the old fashioned way as in digging through the ashtray, scrounging up quarters and other coins to pay the different tolls every so many miles, for bridge-crossings, tunnels, and exits.

This slower pay as you go approach is similar to the the so-called free DLS access. Oh I can travel the same highway, but since I didn't pay ahead with the transponder, I have to take the slow route, and actually pay more in the long run.

From a dollar stand-point, yes the "free" service doesn't cost anything, but that more than makes up the difference in time, and frustration, which to me is the same as money. Wasting time and being annoyed is something I think is more precious than money because you can never make it back, or get over the annoyance of waiting.

So in the end, it's worth getting the transponder or (FCT) and going through the toll booths without waiting for the slow pokes to dig through their ashtrays, pockets, wife's handbag, and under the seat while they look for a few quarters every time they come to a toll booth!
