Where to find freeware routes for Railroad Simulator pwd by Trainz 12 and TS2010?

I'd be weary of that.

Users who are not running XP SP3 or a later version of Windows for TS2009 SP2/3/4 or a later version of Trainz are running the risk of their version not running correctly.

It states clearly that XP SP3 is a minimum requirement for Windows XP.

Shane

EDIT: If you haven't already, posting your system specifications may help. If the system runs sluggish under XP SP3, then it's probably going to do the same in Trainz.

You have registered your copy, haven't you? If I remember correctly, (and it may be that I don't) upon registration one receives a complimentary 3 month FCT.

If you've not yet registered your copy, I'd suggest passing by the Jointed Rail site for now, as the license they attach to their content (which I assume includes routes) is--in my view, anyway--rather draconian.

I got a 30-day FCT for registering TS2010, and another for registering TS12.

I'd suggest for the OP to go to their Planet Auran profile, then go to Download Tickets, and look down the bottom.

I'm already registered at Planet Auran, but when I click on Download Tickets I get...

"No Access
You do not have access to any content on the Download Station.
Please register your Trainz Serial to gain access.

If you do not have a serial number, you can order Trainz Simulator 2009: World Builder Edition via the Auran Shop."

So I tried entering the serial # again and I get...

"Note:
The Serial Number is already registered to you.
****-****-****-****-****-**** "

It doesn't like me :'( The only thing I've received from them is a 20% off voucher for purchasing a ticket. I'll probably just go ahead and beg my old man for the $12 for a 3 month ticket.

You need to enter in your serial number on Planet Auran and in Trainz as well.

When Trainz starts, go to the options and add in your serial number there.

Once that's in, you'll have access to the DLS.

It's also important to note that anytime you install an add-on pack that requires a serial number, you need to enter this in the Trainz Options serial number tab in order for the content to show up in the program.

3 month Ticket has been purchased, and I can download via the FTP link from the DLS. But now I have another problem. Now when I open the Content Manager I get a red banner at the bottom, actually 2 different ones (Screenshots).

The CDP's install automatically, but nothing else happens. No discrepancies or updates to "out of date" content will download. Now the Download Helper window has gone blank and says "Incorrect username and password entered". What a pain in the butt!!!

The DLS was down for a while earlier today and quite often when that happens I get the 'wrong username or password' message. Assuming you are certain you do have the correct password entered don't mess with it, it will sort itself out 'soon'.

On the FCT thing, you have purchased one but have you activated it? If not, from the Forum home page go to Profile > Trainz > Download Tickets...

Andy :)

Thanks Dermmy, I won't use the other thread, sorry.

As you can see, my FCT has been activated. But it still shows I have no access to the DLC because of my serial number, of which is already on file. Here is some of the account information on Planet Auran...

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, and forgive me if someone did, but try changing your password in your online Planet Auran profile. You can reuse the same one. This has the effect of refreshing your profile on Auran's end.

Railroad Simulator pwd by Trainz 12

Be advised when you go to register a TS12 serial number, the default is the plain vanilla Auran version of TS12. "Railroad Simulator powered by TS12", "Railway Simulator powered by TS12", and "Trainz 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition" are essentially the same software, except all four have a different series of serial numbers. You MUST use the drop down arrow to select the edition of TS12 that you actually have to register the serial number.

Yes I've done that and used the "Railroad Simulator powered by TS12" from the list, and my serial was accepted. If you try entering your serial with the wrong version, like I did my first attempt with the default choice Trains 12, you get a denial warning and are asked to enter a valid serial.

Okay, when you go to the serial number link and log in it shows your TS12 serial number, does it also show one for FCT and Voucher Code somewhere below that?

Nope. But I did have a voucher for FCT and used it to purchase my 3 Month Ticket. I have 3 more vouchers, one for the Duchess, another for Blue Comet, and a 3rd for TS2010 Engineers Edition.

Alright, I forget the exact procedure but I think you go to the same page, click the Download Tickets link on the left, then activate your first class ticket with the serial number for that. Probably take 24-48 hours before it actually kicks in, I don't remember offhand.

Yes, I activated it as soon as I purchased it, so maybe I need to just sit tight and wait a few days. Hopefully that will be it. Even though I submitted a ticket to the Helpdesk, last time I did that it took about 4 months before they contacted me.

One way to find out;

Note just under the userID number it shows if you have a first class ticket active and how many days are left on it. What I've had to do in the past when I got that "invalid username" message was to clear the fields for both username and password, leave them blank and save. Then exit content manager, wait for TADDaemon to shut down (task manager processes to see that) and reboot the computer. Then I start the launcher and click on Options, and the Planet Auran tab;

Re-enter the user name and password, then click OK. Normally that fixes the problem if it's on my end, but of course if the DLS server has loose screws that day there's nothing to do but wait for them to fix it.

OK, stand by, I've just re-installed entire simulator and it appears to be working.

EDIT: Yes, the Download Helper is FINALLY downloading dependencies for UMR Mega Summer as my first route install. That was a mentally exhausting experience, he he he.

I know I sound like a broken record, but thanks to all of you for your assistance, it is greatly appreciated. You all have shown me that I've joined a decent community with decent people. I hope to get more involved and "pay it forward" to those after me who need help.

Happy Holidays,
Todd
