Where to find freeware routes for Railroad Simulator pwd by Trainz 12 and TS2010?

Are there any freeware sites for community routes and activities like TrainSim has for MSTS. I just got Railroad Simulator powered by Trainz 12 as an early X-mas gift and can't afford to purchase Download Station tickets at the moment. Since it is compatible with TS2010 content, I figured there must be a treasure trove of freeware goodies by now.

Thanks,
Todd

More free routes....

There are lots of free routes for TS12 and more showing up each week.

Many of the TS2009 & TS2010 routes will run in TS12 as well!

You can go to the downliad station(DLS) and select "routes" and "TS12" only and select the ones thare appear today.

Some suggestions are: UMR (Ultra Mega Route) sessions. These are large routes and numberous sessions are available. Summer, Winter or BASE routes are required and other sessions are available at other sites mentioned here.

Currently I have downloaded and running the UMR-TS12-SUMMER route and the XACTO mines routes from TRAINZSESSIONS.COM, etc.

Check back frequestly and build your list of routes.

Enjoy...

Sorry to bug you again, but is there a way to access the DLS without a subscription? When I went there to try to download something it said "You have No First Class Ticket".

But I'll check out those other website you shared with me in the mean time.

You don't need a FCT with TS12 to access the DLS. Try searching the Forums in the DLS, FCT section.

Simplest way to do it is launch TS12, and instead of clicking the start button click the Content button. That opens content manager. On the left side open the search filter (if it's not open already) and click the plus sign. Select category, it defaults to routes. Click the plus sign again, select minimum build version and type 3.3.

That will get you a list of the latest routes, select one and click the right mouse button, select "Download" from the menu that pops up. If you don't have a first class ticket you may get a "busy signal", just keep trying until it starts downloading.

When you get some money together do invest in a first class ticket, since it takes a lot less time to download everything you need for most routes.

Oh I see now, if you buy a ticket it just guarantees you faster downloads like on some file sharing sites like MegaUpload. Thanks for the Content Manager tip using the search filter.

I appreciate all your guys help, thank you

My Raquette RR route for TS2009 (which should work in later versions) is also hosted in the file library at UK Trainsim, as well as here on the DLS. However if you can get a free slot at UKTS to download the route, you will still need to connect to the DLS afterwards to gather the dependencies, particularly if you're running TS12 where a great many of the default assets found in older versions need to be acquired from the DLS.

Your purchase of TS12 does give a limited amount of DLS access, but in all honesty if you're serious about Trainz and seeing the wonderful routes others have created, you really need to consider investing in a FCT.

G'day Tuddley,

First Class tickets, or subscriptions, also allow you to download as much as you like. FCT-less people are forced to have a quota of 100 mb everyday. This sounds like a lot, but highly-deatiled locomotives and buildings can easily surpass 20mb sometimes, and when you download a route, it not only downloads the files of the said route, but also all the Dependencies you don't have as well

You have registered your copy, haven't you? If I remember correctly, (and it may be that I don't) upon registration one receives a complimentary 3 month FCT.

If you've not yet registered your copy, I'd suggest passing by the Jointed Rail site for now, as the license they attach to their content (which I assume includes routes) is--in my view, anyway--rather draconian.

Yeah I'm registered. I don't think they have the complimentary 3 month deal, they use a voucher thing now that gives you 20% off. Maybe I'll butter up my dad for use of his debit card for my Christmas present. LOL:hehe:

there is no need to buy fct
you can acess dls only if you have registered trainz 2009 or up with your account

Use the web page http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php don't try to download an entire route because it will pull in the dependencies and push you over the 100 Mb limit, but you can download the dependencies first then the route will download. Note the queue must be less than 100 mb without dependencies.

Trainzproroutes.org is quite a good place to start as well.

Well, in my opinion, if you're just starting out in Trainz, you'll be needing a FCT. There will be so much that you want to download, that you'll quickly exceed the 100mb limit without it. You'll also not get that dreaded 'busy' message if you have the FCT. On the other hand, if you have a LOT of patience, you can try it without the FCT, but the price of the ticket is a great deal if you ask me and it helps to support the producers of this great sim. You won't be sorry if you get it.

Mike

I would go with your first thought of tapping dad. A FCT is a must for any serious Trainzer. :p
Just a quick word or 50 of advice. Don't do what most newcomers do and try to download every single thing on the DLS. A lot of it is old outdated or broken cr*p that you will spend years trying to delete. Make sure you read up on what is good and worth filling your hard drive with and what will crash you to desktop before you eve get near started.

In the Download Helper, the downloads turn red and when I hover over them it says "Unknown Content Error". Is this what Sniper297 meant by "busy signal", as it says "Unable to download, the server appears to be full, try again later..."

Is there actually nothing wrong, I just need to keep trying? In the main menu of the interface in game, it says I have 420 Updates, but I got the same thing.

Something else that concerns me is that I can't install the next patch after 47772 (Which is the version shipped in the box) because XP SP3 is required and it causes my computer to be all sluggish and slow.

EDIT: I guess Leeferr and Deano5 said it best I guess.

I also wanted to comment on how great of a community this is. Everyone so far has been friendly and helpful.

You can apply the patch on another installation of XP, Vista or Win7 and transfer it back. In fact, once you get a good installation done, you don't ever need to touch the installation disks again and can transfer it from computer-to-computer or have multiple installations.

BTW, the first jet I flew was the Westwind I, the 1124.
