Where is serial number

Hi
Hope someone can help clear this up.

I've just purchased the boxed version of Trainz Simulator 2012 but cannot locate the serial number. I suspect that I wasn't given a complete package as the only thing inside the box was the disk - no manual or anything else. I've checked all round the box but there is no number. So I just want to check if the serial number should be on the box or the manual or somewhere else for that matter.

Thanks in advance for any help

No manual? That's worrying.

Normally, it will be either on a sticker in the box, on the back of the box, or on the back of the manual. (or if it's a digital download, on the Order History page)

I'd strongly advise contacting wherever you got it from.

Also, be aware that if it's second-hand, the serial may have already been registered (a serial can only be registered once)

Hi Shane,
I purchased it from a high street store - new - so I guess the serial number should have been somewhere on the manual. I shall go back to the store in the morning to see if they have it and, if not, I will ask for a refund.

Mine was on the back of the manual and I'm guessing that's where yours should be. If it didn't have a manual, they should give you a refund or another boxed version that includes the manual.

I got TS12 anniversary edition with an actual manual, these days most software comes with something that would more properly be classified as a pamphlet rather than a manual. On the TS2010 version it's a teeny tiny pamphlet clipped inside the cover, so thin it's barely noticeable. See if there's anything like that, you're looking for six blocks of four letter/number combinations separated by hyphens, kinda like;

Good idea - just check it hasn't ended up on a sticker inside the case, or possibly on the back of the case.

Was it shrink-wrapped? If it was not shrink-wrapped, someone else may have removed the manual from the box.

Or someone bought it and returned it and the store you bought it from re-shrink wrapped it and sold it as "new." This happened to me once. Try to get your money back, then your best bet is to get the game from N3V
