Where did my coal go?

I am a new user of Trainz 2004, trying to do some industry experimenting and getting frustrated. I have some questions:
1. In Surveyor, using the rolling stock flyout, I click on the ? and a coal car (or any car..such as gondoal) to add an allowable load and coal does not show up in the commodities list. Everything else from aviation fuel to sheep are in the list, however.
2. In doing my research, I have seen many people reference editing the config files for the cars, but my question are - what are they named and where are they?

In that case it's not configured to carry coal, at a blind guess.

I appreciate the answer...but that leads to question 2. Especially when I'm adding a coal hopper which has coal as a commodity until I remove it. Then I can't put it back because it's not in the list. Thanks

Been a while since I used 04, try delete the hopper then replace it. See if that works. 1 of the 04 people can help you a lot better.

If you check the Builtin list in TO for traincars that carry coal (kuid:44179:60013) you'll find this are listed:
CP gondola
IC 4 Bay Hopper
IC 4 Bay Hopper Loaded
Coal_Hopper

Renfe Faoos TT3
DB Erz IIId
BR ZHV Mineral Wagon Loaded

The config that folks refer to is in the same folder as the item, it is called config.txt and contains details about the item, bogies, load, KUID number etc

This can be edited with notepad.

If there is a load specified (usually attached to a point in the mesh called a.load0, there will be entries forthe load item.

You can modify that to include coal

example of coal load from a config:

queues {
load-coal {
size 10000
initial-count 5000
product-kuid <kuid:44179:60013>
}
}

as for question 'where are they' in TRS2004 they are in either custom folder or downloads folder

Identify the KUID and locate the item, open the folder and you will find the config that folks are refering to

BTW TRS2004 is no longer supported, but some fellow Trainzers have this version and can help, but I would advise getting TS2010 to get full support and a much better sim
