Where are you Auran Folks

Hi Shane and everybody.
Thankyou for your response and hopefully I do get one soon. The problem I've got at the moment is the lack of jobs that fit my qualifications (although not at degree level, my highest qualification is a HNC in Computing (General).

Shane

Don't worry about getting to degree level as in many industries it is not necessary. If you were interested in industrial safety qualifications then there are two ways through.

The first way would be to get a "Nebosh" qualification which come in two types either diploma or certification. The foregoing can be very expensive and many companies will not necessarily employ you as you would not have the necessary "shop floor experience"

The second way through, is to take up the government/employer NVQ qualifications and work your way up to NVQ standard four or five. Although this takes longer to obtain it give you a far better understanding of industrial safety including accident investigation etc. The NVQ route does not cost anything to the applicant as all costs are encompassed by the employer or government/local council.

Many employers are only too happy to find someone amongst their employees who is prepared to give up their time freely to gain such qualifications to the benefit of the company. So, if you are working for an organisation even part-time it might be worth mentioning it to them and see how they respond. If not the NVQ qualifications can be gained in your own spare time but you would still need shopfloor experience.

Hope this helps
Bill

NB:-"Hope forum members do not find this posting off topic but I am just trying to help Shane who has helped so many forum members in the past through his dedication and experience in trainz.

@cascaderailroad. Does that include brain washing?

@Shaneturner12. I don't know what your personal circumstances are but you're obviously an intelligent person and my advice to you is to take any job you can just to get yourself in to the world of work.

Once in work you can then look for that perfect job that fits your quals and you never know, you might be able to transfer or use your computer skills in that particular company you're working for and progress your career that way. It's not good for you to wait around hoping that something will turn up.

Good luck!

Rob.

What N3V does as a commercial organisation is to hope they get your more of your money as they have done in the past. That is the object of any commercial company so they can provide profit to their shareholders or owners which is exactly what they are there to do.

The above is what the forum is provided for by N3V in the belief that its members will provide help and support for its product users and therefore those users will again spend their money on buying further trainz products as they come online. There is no sentiment in what they do and you can never bite the hand that feeds as they are feeding you a commercial operation.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about N3V, how hard a job it is, for such a small company, with so few employees, to provide service for 10,000 people ... What if N3V went belly up, and dint' come back online, and the N3V site, and support was cut off forever, all because some complainers, and a group, cause legal problems ... and N3V was no more ... Then you would have no support, no Forum, and no DLS ... Think about it !

I have great fun with Trainz, even when the server is offline.

Never in my days, have I had a game that I had so much fun with, as Trainz does !

Brainwashed ... No ...TrainzWashed YES ... It is my life, and my hobby that helps me cope ... If I win the lottery ... I'm buying N3V !

Auran, along with the sense of users and game creators working together is long gone.
You have N3V.
Build for us and we will tell you how later. And again next year..............

I have worked for companies if something was as screwed up as this patch 24/7 would be appropriate.

Your company's livelihood is on the line.

Harold
I totally Agree They may not work 24/7 and they may be small ,but to me being a reputable company means Sacrifice and if they feel this is not worth it, Addressing the concerns of Loyal patrons, they Will loose those patrons, so enough of the excuses, and you Suck ups in here making excuses for them! To think I Advertise this product on my web pages? ( that may change shortly)

I think I should clarify something. My install went fine, just took 7 hours including the new fresh install of trainz 2012 first, the hotfix install went fine, all that is good.

It's the lack of things working correctly after the install that has me frustrated once again.

Now, all this talk about 24/7. I'm not saying they have to fix all the bugs 24/7, but I think if you have a 24/7 anything (multiplayer game, online banking, corner store, gas station, etc.), you should have something in place to ensure that urgent matters are dealt with quickly (like down servers, cash registers not working, gas pumps not pumping, etc.)

At work, we have a computerized system that runs climate, irrigation, etc. When something goes amiss, an alarm goes out and there are particular people on call to deal with particular issues. That is something that should be set up as quickly as possible - it is a must, in my opinion, with something like Trainz that runs 24/7 in multiple countries in multiple timezones.

At the same time, this emergency on call person would send a quick note in announcements explaining what seems to be the problem and that it is being addressed as quickly as possible, expected uptime could be ?? time EST, PST, whatever. Then we can plan things a bit too and just come back when we think it may be fixed.

This is not a difficult thing to put in place and could save so much frustration. Because let's face it - things will happen, servers will crash, etc. - there just needs to be a plan to deal with these things quickly & ensure people know something about what's going on.

This is not very expensive and not very difficult to handle major issues such as the down server where no one can use the system.

I don't think this is an unreasonable request at all and should be addressed. It would go miles in customer satisfaction.

And just an aside, I know that the staff at Auran are working hard on fixes - this is kind of beside that work, or perhaps better said a different part of it that would keep down the negative chatter.

What do you think, Auran? Any possibilities here?

Regards,
Razor01

OMG BECAUSE A TRAIN GAME IS THE SAME AS WHATEVER YOU DO DUH

Ask any 3rd party site owner, and the group that assists them ... just how difficult it is to maintain a site !

Not to menton how difficult it is to retrofit an entire "Computer Program".

It is a difficult job ... to please 10,000 people ... some of them Gimmie Pigs (like me) Whee Whee Whee ... But I do appreciate N3V's hard work.

N3V is a for profit company. Third party providers spend their own dime maintaining sites for free.*
Third party freeware sites have trumped N3V for profit for years. I don't care the size of the company. Don't sell me a product you can't maintain. End of story.

Please lets look back to only a few years ago when the whole DLS went down big time, and if my memory serves me well for almost 2 weeks !.With many 3rd party creators having no other choice than to bit the bullet and accept the fact that the fruits of their labors had gone . . . for good!!.

Although these glitches are frustrating, what most of us lack is a little patience!,' desired by many, acquired by few'. However it is my humble opinion that trainz will need several more years yet. Before a long term solution is found to the problem's such as the one's that the Down Load Station exhibits from time to time. Maybe when/if the DLS problems are sorted we might even be able to look forward to advents such a bigger and better search engine!?. Possibly even more improved in game features, i.e.improved water and shadow realism would be welcomed additions to 'trainz' as well. But for the time being it's business as usual ' happy trainzing all '.

Ah, deja vu all over again. We have been here before, we will be here again.

In the end all the furore over SP1 for TS2012 will be largely forgotten, especially when the next target hoves into view (TS14 :-).

I think your memory is faulty. The content of the forums was lost, not the DLS.

Like you invested alot of money ? What $39.95 for the game, plus a FCT for $24.99, and like you dint' get your moneys worth, and fun out of it ?

I'm having great fun with Trainz, and the DLS works great. !

I have 1287 different types of RR tracks, 10's of thousands of CDP's, and tons of DLC locos, Trainz, Planez and Automobiles (and Whecsailors "Fish's") all for @ $120 USD, that sounds like quite a good deal !

Try to get that much trains down at your local Hobby Shoppe ... You'll get 1 carpy Bachman loco made in Chikedy China.

No one has any "Respect" anymore ... and demand they instant gratification ... for free

KaChink KaChink KaChink ... Moooo

BTW: My Horseshoe Curve route is comming along nicely (now that I have learned how "to curve track to precise radius").

Chickedy China, da' Chinese Chicken ... Have another drumstick ... your brain start clickin' !

I agree that the communication could be better and have said this numerous times. We should have had a heads up on the patch and the caveats that came with it. This would have helped the third-party content creators such as Jointed Rail and HP-Trainz fix their content prior to patch release. The notice to the community in general would have help those such as myself with 10-years of content installed. We would have known that the thumbnails and other things that will break, and would become come an issue. We could have then, if we wanted to, repair our content ahead of time. Then again, this is all hindsight and we can say this again and again. Chris even said that better communication would have been better.

Just a few thoughts on this.

John

Agreed -- and let me add -- not sure if this is so today, but back then, in the early trainz days N3V (Auran then) had 3rd party beta-testers recruited from the community itself, and they had their own forum to discusss these patches, fixtures, etc ...

Me thinks, that N3V should send future SP Patches to the dedicated hardcare script masters that can found in the forum, etc and create a forum dedicated to these people --- let them bite, chew and digest these patches, etc and see what happens!

If, however, they do now, as I just posted then disregard this idea, and then question what really when wrong!

I remember that too. I don't know if they do that now. It would have been nice though. They would have gotten an earful on this one! Right now my trees have disappeared again even with all the suggestions, reboots, rebuilds, Open/GL and DriectX switching. I'm not concerned when I am track laying, but when I am landscaping and running the route, I sure like to see the trees.

AMEN Brother!!!!!!!! Don't you love how the Suck ups in here Defend them to the End, makes me wonder What THEY get out of it?Hmmm to ponder?
