Whats with the next speed indicator?

The next speed indicator on the heads up display will show a (typically higher) speed limit coming up in XX miles. When that location is reached, the speed limit often stays what is was?:o

The speed will remain the same until the whole train is within the new displayed speed. This is normal railroad procedure.

I dont think that is what I am seeing. An example is that the limit is currently 25; next limit shows 55; when the 55 point is reached, the speed limit stays at 25 and the next limit shows 25. The 55 does not seem to come up even after several miles have passed. At least it sure seems that way; I am new at this so I'll keep a closer eye on it.

But what is your signal state in the 55 zone? Do you actually pass a 55 speed board? If so, and the signal state is yellow, your speed should be 25. If you have a green, you should be at track speed (55). I assume you are riding along with an AI train.

I happened to notice something like this earlier today. I watched all my AI trains pass a 70mph sign, then pass a 35mph sign, it did change the limit in the hud for a few seconds but changed back. So I "chase viewed"(the #2 key in driver) while hanging off the rear most unit on a train, repositioned my point of view so as to get smacked in the face by every trackside object and found the front of the AI train passes a second speed sign before the back of the train passes sign the first one, then the AI defaults itself to the previous sign as it clears that one, totally disreguarding the newer speed limit. Could this be happening in your case? If its this is the case, just make sure the trains fully clear a speed sign before passing the next one.
