What will happen...exactly when 04/06 is unsuported ?

I hope that this thread becomes a Sticky, as it might provide usefull help to other unsupported Trainzers.

If I purchase a FCT now in TRS2006:

I am having a hard time visualizing what exactly will happen when I open up TRS2006 CMP Download Helper, once TRS2006 becomes unsupported ?

Even more, what will hapen when I go to Surveyor, and I try to place items that I have downloaded and saved to CDP's. Will they still functon in my game ? And when I go to my route in Driver, will all the assets on my route have dissapeared and the route be blank ?

If I purchase a FCT now...will the TRS2006 CMP Download Helper be blank, and have no functionality ? Will all my content that I have saved as CDP's in my TRS2006 folder, and my Assets be wiped out, or become non-functioning in my game ? Will the CMP still be able to open up my saved CDP's and open them for edit and commit then into TRS2006 ?

Will my saved CDP's of "Lampost Linda", "Waffle House", and "Bdaneals steam locomotives" be wiped out blank files, or not be able to be re-committed, that will no longer function in my Game ?

Will a CDP that I download in the year 2011 from TPR be unable to be opened and committed by the TRS2006 CMP.

If I buy a FCT in TRS2006 now...can I send my TRS2006 CDP's over to be committed into my 2010 Trainz version, (which I will most probably purchase soon) ?

In short: Will all he stuff I have saved, still function on my TRS2006 game forever ?

Moin,
Your TRS 2006 works so as today, only the download function of the CMP doesn´t work.
All content that you have in your local folder are will displayed normally, you don´t get a blanc route.
If you want download items from the DLS, you must go the way over the webpage and download what you want without CMP.
Your account to the DLS to download are sure for your FCT.

For more answers take the time to read the Q/A here.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I hope that this thread I have posted clears things up for all of us that are not extremely PC knowlegeable. (ME).

Please post all your findings here so that all of us can undrstand exactly what will happen in the funcionality of our unsupported Trainz versions.

I read the wiki site: but need plain simple English, Like: Sorry Bubba all your saved CDP stuff will no longer run...you are s.o.l.

words, words, words, words, words...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...Just tell me whatz gonna happen.

Pc games fade away.....

sooner or later for many reasons. Trainz is not exempt. People's attention span??

Yes

No.

No

Yes

No. Not even Auran dare to wipe out Linda.
Will a CDP that I download in the year 2011 from TPR be unable to be opened and committed by the TRS2006 CMP.
No, it will be ok. The same goes for Razorback Railway EXE files.

For as long as the rivers shall run and the winds shall blow.... or more realistically, for as long as you have a copy of TRS2006 and a computer which is capable of running it.

If you have downloaded anything you value from DLS, back it up.

Follow up question

Does all this mean that if you want to download from the DLS, a TRS06 user will have to use the FTP link? If so, that would mean that you would have to then download the dependencies separately?

I can see the logic of withdrawing support after a fixed period of time and ensuring assets meet stricter standards, and even reserving the right to drop ancient matter from the DLS, but how does disabling CMP benefit anyone, including Auran? I admit I may just be missing the point behind that one.
