I just have a dilemma atm. I have an underground railway in my route, but not sure what to put over it. I've tried two different types of concrete slab but both are too thick in terms of height.
I am really stuck, I'm hoping someone may have a suggestion...:hehe:
If you search the DLS for "Asphalt" AND "Asfalt" there are several plain Parking Lot splines in grey and black which will cover the subway, but they are both transparent when viewed from below. As far as I remember on my Sunderland route I used Boardwalk Spline and Betonbridge as these are solid underneath, though Betonbridge may be too thick.
Why not put in some digholes and raise the baseboard over the top of the subway? As your route is aligned with the squares on the baseboard, this will be quite easy to do. And then you will be able to use any texture you like over the subway.

Well, I've come up with something that may work, my main concern is that there needs to be a reason for the subway to exist. I'm thinking of putting buildings on top, but I need to think of a way to have roads go up there. Maybe by way of a bridge.
If you want to have roads and buildings on top of your subway I would definitely take my approach. Otherwise it will be difficult to add them as they will be floating above the baseboard.

I'm glad you found the answer. But bear in mind, you're lucky that your subway lines up with the squares on the baseboard. If it were at a 45 deg. angle it wouldn't be so easy!

You used the old fashioned cut and cover approach used by the prototype to build so many subway and underground routes in the world.
You can now easily continue your city on top.
I like your use of the retaining walls. they look really good in your layout.
