What it takes for better graphics

The next time you wish that Trainz had better graphics, have a look at this video which gives an inside the GPU view of what needs to happen to put the image on your screen. Luckily they use a train engine as an example so it is easy to relate.

After I watched, all I can say is wow, that GPU sure has to work for it all happen.
 
That video summarised much of what I have learned or deduced during the last 14 years of content creation. I especially liked the description of the Z buffer to discard triangles (and their pixels) that should not be rendered. I've always wondered about that.

Hi all,
Found an educational video that shows how a video card processes a scene in a game and places it on your monitor for your enjoyment. It also shows what how models look and what it takes for your card to render the scene. Very informative if you are interested in the science behind video game rendering. Enjoy.
