Hey Y'all;

What is this symbol? It doesn't seem to be in the manual.
And I can't determine which function it is attached to.

It shows up on the dash in cab view, so it's gotta mean something important.

Its colors are near the same as these locomotives but it also shows up with green and blue locomotives - so i.d. of the locos doesn't seem to be it.

And if it was just to i.d. the locos there is no need for it to be so overwhelmingly distracting.

But mostly, it is exceedingly distracting to the point of concentration on operating the train being near impossible.

And with my health like it is I need all the help concentrating which can be had.

Which locos does it show up in? If they're available on DLS, I (or someone else) could try running them.

Also, what version of Trainz are you running?

FW

They are all UK locos from DLS.

2006.

Ahh, where can the rule to turn the thing off be found, just search for AWS?

Huh, AWS = Automatic Wheel Slip?

What would happen with open to edit and just remove the thing altogether?

EDIT:

Just found and downloaded this; can be used to get rid of it, or simply deactivate?

AWS = Automatic Warning System.

The on-screen symbol is an AWS 'sunflower'.

Wiki should explain it well enough, but basically, the 'sunflower' opens and a buzzer is sounded as an AWS ramp is passed if the immediate signal is yellow or red, or a significant reduction in speed limit is approaching. The warning must be 'cleared' within several seconds, otherwise emergency brakes are applied. In trainz this is done with the space key if I recall correctly.

When a AWS ramp associated with a green signal is passed, the sunflower is closed and a bell sounds. Green signal AWS notifications do not need to be cleared.

AWS was basically introduced in 1956 in order to reduce the number of accidents caused by SPADs, although AWS itself doesn't guarentee that you can't pass a danger signal, it does remove the 'inattentive driver' aspect.

Edit: In regard to tardis' comment: it should also be used on late-era BR steam too, as it was fitted to steam locos too.
