What is the First Class Ticket good for?

The reason i ask is because I bought one thinking it might speed up downloads, and help me avoid 'Server is full' messages.

So far, it hasn't. True, one could say it is 100 times faster; but 100 x 0 is still 0.

My profile shows FCT activated, CM3.2 shows FCT activated.

I guess my biggest frustration is that after SP2 made TS2010 unusable I was just trying to recover what I had; but alas I can't.

That's what it's for & you get a superior download speed, depending of course on all the same factors that affect anyone else.

This appears to be a common complaint when first setting up an FCT. A common fix is to go to profile, reset you password then start trainz, re-enter both the username and password.

One other possibility that I experienced when one of my FCTs were activated was that CM takes a few minutes to read the entire list you have selected for download, searches the DLS for all the dependencies, creates the dependency list then and only then starts the download. How long have you waited prior to giving up on the download? I must admit, the delay totally frustrated me until I realized what was happening in the background. This behaviour occurs in CM even without the FCT but starts to download while still building the list for some reason. Go figure.

As to the other possibility, all I get is the message that the server may be full, try again later. Thinking that maybe it would try again later by itself, I left it for 2 hours without touching it. It didn't do anything.

Hi John,

It actully will not try on it own. Once it fails, it will wait for you press the start button again. It is best, though to clear out the download list entirely, exit CM, reset the password on planet auran, then reset the username and password in Options prior to starting cm again. then reselect the items to download - it should work at that point

When did you (if you did) activate your FCT? it takes 24 hours for all the servers to update your info to give you full FCT access.

PS if you didn't activate it; you need to go to your Planet Auran Profile (Profile link at the top of page) and activate it under "Tickets"

Thanks. It has been over 24 hours with no change. I do have a helpdesk ticket submitted; but if it is like the last one I put in it will be 2 weeks before I hear anything.

Although I understand it can take 24 hours, it shouldn't unless it is required for a human to make the change. I am assuming that all the servers are in close proximity, and not scattered globally; as i don't think Auran is a global company. The only reason i mention this is I remember when Trainz download station first came on board there was much slowness and it was mentioned that they may look into putting another mirrored server in the US. I never did hear if that happened.

FWIW, it is working now. Also to be fair to Auran I should note that Zec contacted me about this today. Maybe they are catching up.
