I bought the game for my son. Trainz Simulater 2010 Engineers Edition. Installation asked for a serial number. Put that number in off the back of the manual. After installation it is asking me for a CD key. There is no tag on the product anywhere to locate a CD KEY. The serial number is not working in this spot,

Welcome to the forum..Ignore that CD Key No...It is used for Beta Testers..As Long as you have registered with Planet Auran you are in good shape..Happy Trainzing..

If you don't get any other response, I suggest you click on the forum helpdesk button in the top menu bar and submit a ticket. Hopefully you will get a quick reply.

PS. I see Bob beat my response by 1 minute. Let us know if you are sucessfel in getting Trainz going.

When you start TS10 you should get a green box with a number of buttons. Click on the one labeled Options. Under the general tab you should see your serial number recorded there. If it isn't then try to enter it where it says CD Key. It should be 6 groups of 4 letters or numbers. It must match exactly so double-check it. If it doesn't take it the you will have to open a ticket with the helpdesk.

Ok that didnt work

It wont start the game. The cd key field is blank. I have tried multiple ways of putting the swirl number in this spot. Says invalid key. I will open a help ticket. This isfrustrating to get it going.

The easiest way of doing it, if you have already registered it with N3V, is to copy and paste the serial number into the Trainz Options box where it asks for the CD Key.

I see you have TS2010 registered in your profile. You can just copy-and-paste the serial number from your profile into the game and click the Add button. That way, you don't have to worry about typos.

If it still doesn't work, I suggest doing an Extended Database Repair, and possibly a validation (instructions are in the TS2010 forum on a thread regarding 'assets incorrectly marked as faulty'.) Often, when Trainz' asset database gets corrupted, it won't take a serial number. Then you can try adding the serial number again.

May be a Win7 need to run as Administrator problem, if it was installed in program Files.
Just to clarify, the registration, CD key and DVD key are all the same thing, there is only one code to enter in Trainz.
